:D I agree. I'm not being all dogmatic or anything. I know a lot of communication is lost when it's just text with no tone or inflection. I'm typing these things lightheartedly.

I do think Danica's public personae; and women in general, are judged on a much harsher scale than their male counterparts. I won't go so far as to say this thread reeks of sexism and misogyny (though many threads here do). I brought up childbirth earlier because that takes an amount of strength I know I don't have. I don't know any dudes who would go through that if they could. I believe women are willfully capable of anything a man can accomplish. Getting off my soapbox now. I came here to talk about trucks... :typing:

they are judged harsher, and that's why I think girls need to look up to women who don't take their clothes off and stuff... too much oversexualizing everythin nowadays... hell maybe little girls should look up to all the Toyota drivers in the camping world truck series...then buy a Toyota truck... thatd be a great idea :kona: :jellydance: :bananadance:

Fact is most drivers don't care about being role models as much as they do making money. I would whore my ass off if the pay was good.

the roles of men and women have both really changed over the last 20 years or so. Men wanting to be women, women wanting to be men, men wanting to be with men women wanting to be with women, effimnate men, masculine women. No wonder kids wonder who the role models are.

Who is your favorite Nascar Toyota driver? Now that I own a TRD Tacoma, I feel I should choose a driver (back up second driver)...

My son is a #18 fan.... so maybe

I don't pull for any of the Toyota drivers. If I had to pick, I'd say Matt Kenseth. There are a few drivers I'd like to win (21, 2, 42, 47, 9), most drivers in okay with, and a few drivers I do NOT want to win (4, 48, 11, 18, 19, 15). My all-time favorites from childhood were Bill Elliott, Davey Allison, Richard Petty.

Tough to select a new driver when I have cheered for one for 20 years (#24), for me, all other drivers are the enemy... that is what makes it fun.

I have some soul searching to do at the end of this year... right now the candidates are:
    #2
    #24 (Chase Elliot)
    #42

No sense going for a veteran as they will likely be leaving sooner than later.

As a Kyle fan, do you think marriage, a kid, and this accident will make a man of him. To date, he has been a big baby, I want to like him, but his attitude has been his biggest enemy... thoughts?

Nothing has helped up to this point. Dumping Hornaday, the ensuing 1-race suspension, speeding through a school zone (128mph), speeding again, flipping off, revving and lurching at officials with his car, various pit road and garage tantrums, quitting midrace and leaving the car in the pits (with #5 Hendrick, Jr. finished the race and took his vacated seat the following season). Getting canned by Rick Hendrick, umm.... I forget at this point.

For a long time I wondered how these two boys, who had everything given to them turned out to be so sour towards every infinitesimal brush with adversity. They're like that bully in the Christmas Story movie; they can dish it out all day long but they sure can't take it. I wondered about this for a long time until I saw an interview with their mom. She certainly had a heavy hand in feeding their delusions and shielded them from adversity and taking responsibility for their actions.

Honestly, I think we've seen the peak of his career. If you look at most of the drivers who found success, they had it early in their career, carried it for a 5-6 year stretch, then having proved themselves to their peers, faded into also-rans. The list is long and the stats simliar:
    Bobby Labonte
    Matt Kenseth
    Brad Keselowski
    Bill Elliott
    Denny Hamlin
    Ryan Newman
    Carl Edwards
    Kasey Kahne
    Greg Biffle
    Jeff Burton
    Dale Earnhardt Jr.
    Ernie Irvan
    Kurt Busch
    Kyle Busch

Not everyone can be a Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, or Tony Stewart. We are lucky to have seen three marvelous careers unfold over the last twenty years. If a driver is lucky, they might see a late-career resurgence like Bill Elliott, Mark Martin, Harry Gant or Terry Labonte had. While I am not a fan, Kevin Harvick seems to be having the best career arc among current drivers. His career is resembling Dale Jarrett's career. Some wins sprinkled early early, year after year consistency, minimal team turnover, championship, more wins sprinkled, retirement. I think Joey Logano is on track to have a similar career arc too.

Not a large fan of BK, but I LOVE his schemes. Both special schemes this season will be on my must have diecast list! I'm hoping to be at Darlington so I'll get to see the Miller High Life car.

I used to pull for Toyota when Truex raced for MWR. Ne he's with Chevy so I'm back to zero Toyota guys. I do pull for JGR -Team Yamaha in Supercross and Motocross.

I like HMS, so I pull for 24,48,88, and 5. And I'll pull for Chase when he takes over as well. I already pull for him in xfinity. I like Larson as well. Still have a soft spot for Truex Jr too.

He knows how to increase ratings and sell tickets. I actually don't mind his style of racing, it's edgy and aggressive. But you're gonna piss people off that way, naturally. Just like with Gordon, he blew off talking to him like Gordon was a nobody. You don't race like that then blow off the guy wanting to talk about it afterward. It sucks he have miller lite as a sponsor, I LOVE me some Miller.

Agreed. He's fun to watch. Just can't support him. I'll be at the race this weekend. Maybe he'll bring some excitement.

If you followed ARCA, Brad is a chip off the old block. He reminds me a lot of his dad Bob. He's not my favorite, I don't exactly root for him but I like it when he wins. He's a hard driver and he seems to usually have his mind about him (unlike some other drivers prone to tantrums). I think he has a good eye for talent and the right view of the sport. I think he'll make a heck of an owner one day; especially if he stays involved with Roger Penske. I like how he takes a financial hit for his truck teams because he feels it is his duty to reinvest in the sport for up and coming drivers.

Brad and his dad are a lot alike. I have respect for Brad due to the fact that he really did come from a nothing team and made something of himself. He didn't have the financial backing like many of these drivers had. I agree with the truck team, he's one of the few who supports the sport the way he does. I just wish he didn't look like a donkey, and I wish he didn't do some of the stuff he does. But I have some of his diecast, and will buy more of em. So I don't hate him like I hate Kyle. Funny thing is, of all the races I've been to, Brad has won more of em than anyone else.
