My brother's house burned to the ground from an electrical fire , I don't see the point of cheaping out . You don't need a plug and play solution like the Powerbridge but it should be done to code

Sorry to hear that. But whats the difference of a power cord laying on my carpet or ruNing through my wall if it somehow decided to arc and catch fire?

Was your brothers fire due to something not up to code?

Yes, you read wrong. 3/4", then 1/2" then luan (1/4"). Existing subfloor is only 3/4" tongue and groove. once completed total thickness will be 2" (not counting luan)

They had this box just floating in insulation so I mounted it while I was adding another outlet to it.

Also finished the wall for primer tomorrow.

I am pretty happy with it for my first time doing large spackling work.

looks great man! do yourself a favor and shine a halogen light down (parallel with) the wall that you compounded ("spackled"). that will highlight any high spots/edges that need sanded more thoroughly. in normal light a half-assed sand job will look great. but shine a bright light down the wall and you'd be surprised at what you see.

Would have been more important to fix the 4 potentially load bearing cripples cut 3/4 of the way through rather than worry about micro cracks in the drywall finish but whateva

I did run a 2x4 across but you won't be happy regardless. Again I am acknowledging the risk and mistake but please continue being a dick about it.

    You ran a 2x4 across what ? I didn't see that pic

I'm not being a dick , but cutting out structural members is not an insignificant issue

Yeah , I mean building codes are just there to complicate things , not keep the work safe and structurally sound

I ran a 2x4 spanning the gap between the two outside studs under all four partially cut studs. It was screwed into the two outside studs and then into the four partially cut studs. I'm sure it is not as structurally sound as it was originally but if my house ever caves in but some miracle I'll be sure to let you know so you can tell me you told me so.

I'm not attacking you which is how you seem to be taking this , thought you might like an opportunity to learn how to do it properly , but whatever , guess not

and you're right , splicing what is most likely the king stud won't reinforce the cripple carrying the header
