Alright, I'm getting the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2's (285/75/16) put on tomorrow, but I'm not sure if 4 Wheel Parts will trim my fenders.



Have any of you locals trimmed your fenders? If so, could you help me out?

My Local Tire shop trimmed my wheel wells for me but after offroading a trimmed a little more myself. its SUPER easy. start by getting someone inside the cab and have them articulate the wheel fully to see where your rubbing. Then turn the wheel back around to give you some room to start trimming. The wheel well is ultra thin and you can trim with some scissors or a sharp knife (I used the latter). I trimmed a ~ 3"x4" piece on the bottom inside corner of each piece. Depending on your lift, youll do something similar. (I got the km2s too)

BTW: The process takes no more than 60 seconds per side. Its seriously that easy.

 

I've got the Bilstein 5100s at 2.5.

I used one of those razor knives to trim...you wont have any trouble with it.\

I would love to wait for a mod day, but I don't want to rub until then. I'm looking to cut them tomorrow. I just need some guidance/assistance.

Like a razor blade?

 

use some tin snips. They work great. takes like 10 mins

Yea dude its like a thin plasticy material. Just get yourself a nice razorblade knife and go to town...you won't mess up. Just look at where it rubs and trim little by little don't be skerd lol

like wire tin snips...ya know for cutting sheet metal and such

Dude honestly, dont be afraid to start tackling work on your truck. When I first bought my truck I didnt know what half the features on my truck were for, let alone how to change oil. I recently installed a CB having to rip apart some panels, a cold air intake, and a few other custom mods. Though it takes me longer than the average joe, at the end of the day you learn something that can be applied to your next project and eventually youll get better at these things. To trim your fender wells:

1. Put your tires on.
2. Turn your wheels as far as they can go one way and hold it in that position (like I said, have someone do it for you)
3. Check and inspect where your wheel is hitting the well.
4. Trim that portion away with some scissors.

Its really easy. It was too easy that I thought I was doing something wrong. Its seriously no different than cutting paper (just thicker). Try it out
