cool ill give it a shot...which of the bolts releases the belt tension? i see a couple and the one that i think it is is like blocked by a aluminum looking line right infront of the bolt head
found one write up but they didnt mention loosening belt tension

The Tundy rack has the same dimensions?

    That's the plan ;)

Thanks a lot Kris. I'm glad people that actually have race experience can chime in. I spent months doing research on proper suspension geometry and looked at what people were doing wrong and what could use improvement. My stock rack still works great even with 37s and offroading at least once a week.

Front long travel custom: king 10" CO, solid lowers, fabbed spindle, heimed everything ect. Rear still in progress, waiting to be put on: bilstein 9100s, T100 axle. Stock 3.4 engine, 4.30 gears.

Love the kit, hope to see a first gen one!

Why are both uniballs vertical? Does it affect your turning radius?

and wouldnt changing the inner steering pivots with a wider rack affect bumpsteer?

No, will require some fab work to make fit. Considerably wider but substantially larger. I'm taking my truck to Solo this summer for the swap.

Are you guys talking about the first or second gen tundra rack? Because the first gen rack is not beefier at all. It basically the same.

Getting ready to setup bump height, should I do it without coilover installed and set bump before heims/cv's bind? Or remove the spring and go off the shock being collapsed? Something about cutting up a brand new truck just feels right

Where the shock bottoms out is the most important, take the spring off and cycle it with the shock

Second gen, I'm getting a rack off an 08 or newer. A buddy out here has one off a truck that they swapped a howe rack into that he's gunna let me use for mock up and then I'll buy brand new when I send the truck to solo

allpro long travel, shackle flip with ome dakars, cruisin offroad bumpers and sliders, 4.88 gears with arb's front and rear, budbuilt skids.
So is the tundra rack swap good for turning 37's with a stronger ps pump and can handle the abuse? Or will it eventually die to? Since the rack is wider wouldn't it throw off the steering geometry?

honestly the geometry question is beyond me, you would have to talk to Bobby at Solo about that but they have done several swaps with good results using a larger res and a cooler. Im trying to not put my foot in my mouth here since I only had a brief conversation with him about it so i don't want to pass along information I'm not sure of.

As far as turning 37s go I texted Serena at SDHQ to see how the racks they put on the 2 newer LT Tundras they built were holding up and she said they hadn't had an issue yet. 37s are also around the corner for me.

I think its safe to say that all steering and moving components will eventually give out, the PS pump is rebuilt every race on the 6100 truck and the rack gets it a couple times a year. its simply a high stress piece that will go over time, but if the tundra rack can last even twice as long as OEM its a win in my book.

I need to show this to my wife. She doesn't understand when I try to tell her that LT isn't really a want, it's a need :spy:

What is the ideal bs then for a 1st gen taco with lt? On 12.5 wide tires. I have 3.75" bs right now. Think no can only go as low as 4" before Id hit the UCA.

Yea so your at 3.75 too.

I know 4" will clear cause it did on my 33x12.5s. Just hit the frame when turning so I put the spacers on.

Eh. It's not wider then mine, I have wider tires..I don't think mine is that wide. Not as wide as I was expecting it to be.
