That's actually a really good idea! I was thinking of doing something similar but was looking at all sorts of fancy "garage storage systems". Using the thule bars had never crossed my mine

 

Thanks! I think we used 2 inch pvc pipe that we had laying around and it just barely fits. Only took us about 3 hours to completely build. Let me know if you want any up close pictures of anything

 

I can imagine that the condensation he gets on really cold night is pretty bad... interesting set up though

 

I don't think he gets any. It's a forced air diesel heater. Brings air from outside, heats it up, and blows it in. interesting indeed.

 

That ducting is a pretty cool idea.

I normally just buy the 5 meter waterproof led strips from ebay for $15 and make the pieces I need. That's what I did for my bed and canopy. I plan on doing it for my hood and RTT.

 

Wouldn't that create condensation in the walls? Being that the air/walls are hotter inside than outside! Unless it's actually circulating all the air back out and not from outside..... im not arguing just a thought

 

Was thinking the same thing. I get enough condensation from just body heat overnight.

 

Yeah I see what you're saying. He claims he gets no condensation. But that may be just because the air is so hot and dry it drys the air out faster than the condensation forms.

Maybe I have it backward and one of the ducts does suck air from in the tent. I'll bug him next time I see him

 

If it is recirculating air, it should not produce condensation. Having an inlet (warm air pumped in) and outlet (humid air pushed out) should prevent that from happening.

 

I was thinking of testing this out to see how hot/powerful it is:

If it is powerful enough, I would mount it in a small pelican style case on the rack just outside my tent along with an output vent and a switch inside the tent.

 

That's what I said... it would have to be very efficient at cycling air in and all the air out....

Hi guys I'm thinking about getting a rtt. Peer pressure from my dad because he wants more room for camping. I bought a bestop for camping and I really like it... I'm thinking of fabbing up a bedrack that fits over the top of but I'm kinda stumped... Most people bolt to the bedrails and then reinforce down to the bed from there. I can't do that because of the bestop. Any ideas? I think I've seen one guy with a bed rack above the soft top... Does anyone else have better ideas? I can't fit a rtt on my roof right? I'm thinking the access cab is too small.

Eventually I might....its been added to the list of stuff to do when I get home. Towards the bottom though so might end up more of a winter project lol

 

I do just fine with an electric blanket in my RTT when it's cold. Just used it for two nights without issue.
