Soccer Moms will be dropping panties at the thought of an 8 speed slushbox Wrangler. Make it in a 6 speed real transmission and it might not be a joke after all.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
If you're talking about a 6 speed manual, they already have that covered. I think it's actually the standard transmission on those, and the automatic is optional. I myself would never own a Chrysler truck/Wrangler/or SUV with an automatic. Chrysler isn't exactly known for building the world's most durable automatics. There's a reason the Ram Cummins is the only heavy duty diesel truck left in the lineup that still offers the real 3 pedal setup and handshaker 6 speed. Duramax and Powerstroke no longer have a market for it because they've gotten their shit together and put in good automatics for towing that won't nuke out when they are worked hard or tow extremely heavy.

In fact I think the Ram Cummins is the only full size truck left in America with a manual transmission option. None of the half tons offer it anymore and haven't for several years. I was honestly worried that the new third gen Tacoma was going to give it the boot with this new update but thankfully they held on. I don't think the new Colorado has one and Ridgeline doesn't for sure, not sure about the Frontier if they have one or not, don't follow them much..

This is correct. Makes me depressed that they're phasing them out.

We will all know if Toyota made a mistake when the 2016 duramax GM twins hit the market.

Couldn't care less about diesel Jeeps, but if they made a truck (like the AEV), it's sayonara Toyota.

Toyota is resting on it's laurels hoping it's previous reputation keeps it the sales king. Remember folks, that Duramax Colorado will likely be north of $40k. I am glad they offering it though. Better choices for the consumer.

That sucks man. I meant that it would be an ideal size and power output. At least with Toyota you can be pretty sure you are getting a reliable motor. BTW, you are just right down the road from me. I am in Cheyenne.

Man, I'd love to find an old Bronco like that. But don't have the time or money to start a project like that. Besides, I have my eyes on an old Landcruiser. Shh, don't tell the wife. :anonymous:

I think Toyota's had the distinction of being the only manufacturer left who offers a 4x4 4 cylinder truck with a stick for quite a few years now. I would never own a truck with 2WD where I live, so if Toyota ever went that route and I wanted to buy a new manual 4x4, I'd be hosed. I kinda miss rowing gears in my 2011 sometimes.
Yeah, in my opinion, 78-79 were the best years. They had the strongest differentials (the only full size Bronco years with a live Dana 44 solid axle up front), transmissions, frames and engines. At least in a rock crawling/wheeling sense they were the best.

This one will never be one of those things, though. When I get done with it, it will be built back to factory specs, repainted the same color and everything, I might do a 3" or 5" lift and give it 35" tires but that's it. They look real good when you get them up in the air a bit.

I had a VM Motori Diesel Liberty. I bought it new and as soon as the extended warranty was up, I dumped it. The engine was the very definition of a piece of shit. To say it was awful is about the best I can give it. Jeep neither trained their techs to work on the engine, nor did they provide a parts supply that was useful. I had the Jeep into the dealer so many times I should have gotten my own chair with a plaque on it. In short, my experience with the Motori Diesel Jeep was probably the worst I have ever had with a motor vehicle. BEWARE!!

I remember my brothers and I buying a Grizzly 600 ATV from an old guy. We're at his property and he has 2 CRD Jeep Libertys. 1 for his wife and for himself. We ask him how they are and if he likes it, we are interested because were loading the Grizz into a diesel of our own (05 Duramax truck). He bought these new and said "worst f$#kin mistakes iv'e ever made".

What do you say there? We just said thanks for the atv and quickly left.

I wouldn't trust any diesel that's not Japanese, American, German, or Swedish, nuff said.

Might just be the needle in a haystack, but we've had a mailman with a diesel Liberty that has absolutely given that thing hell and has only had regular maintenance done to it.:notsure:

This is just one thread. Post #3 is great, lol. The mailman either had the best Jeep Liberty CRD ever or is a liar, I dunno.

All I know is that it takes balls to admit the car (any car) you spent alot of hard earned money on is a complete turd. But some people will never admit it, like Ford 6.0L powerstroke owners.

Those are probably imported from some other country. But I would be all over that if I was closer, I'd yank the setup out of it and put it in my '79 4WD Pickup and then sell the 2WD with my old 22R and 4 speed manual from my '79. :D
