Would 1" spacer lift affect off road performance

    i'm wondering if a 1" spacer lift would produce a noticeable difference in off road performance/some other side affects of running one. i'm currently running and ome set up. I'm looking to get a new leaf pack in back and get rid of my 2 inch block but most leaf kits are 2.5" to 3" and i can't run a 1.5 cause i'm running 33" tires. So i think i'm going to have to put a 1" spacer up front to keep my truck level...i already have 3" in front, is an extra inch going to affect more things in front that i'm not thinking of?

    you think a 2.5" leaf kit would settle almost .5"

    Generally, Yes. BUT, if he is talking about a 1" lift, then that would be a .5" spacer, and if he has aftermarket UCA's, he should be fine. Anything larger than a .5" spacer, is going to jepardise the Ball joints (If running OEM UCA's), and could possibly lead to shock damage.

    ok yeah thats what i was thinking, the increased lift in front would wear out my joints faster and i have stock UCA but theyre on the top 3 list along with this leaf kit and single res. rear fox shocks...i'm sick of blocks, so for a .5" spacer w/o UCA would jeopardize but with UCA not so much...so a 1" spacer is going to jeopardize ball joints regardless correct?

    okay thanks, and can you explain how a 1" spacer lift is a .5" spacer? and i was planning on putting the UCA, leafs and rear shocks on all at once, so i think adding the .5" spacer will be fine then.

    people on ttora are also saying that this leaf kit moves the axle forward so to avoid rubbing with my 33"s i'm going to need an axle relocation plate...? why are there so many hidden aspects to suspension??:mad:

    The shock location on the fron tsuspension is at the halfway point in the suspension travel. Thus a .5" spacer will yeild 1" lift. No idea on if you need a relocation plate or not. I havent heard of one being needed on the second gens.

    okay, how do spacers affect spring compression, wont the coils have less room to compress and make the front suspension a little bit stiffer so a little bit less articulation

    A top plate spacer lengthens the shock/spring assembly, and a Pre load spacer Pre loads the spring to a higher spring rate.
