Sounds more like they processed a warranty repair than a recall. I'm assuming the new spring pack is the same as the old one, since you couldn't really have 3 on one side and 4 on the other?

You betcha. Pics are always useful!

I'm wondering the same. I have AAL and Bilstein 5100 height adjustable shocks set at 1.75". I got my letter a few weeks ago and I'm not sure what to do.

This is what my dealer has told me as well, two different times. Hopefully it's true.

Had my 2009 Access cab 4-cyl looked at in 2010 or 2011 because of a harsh ride/hitting the bump stops with over 500lbs load. They also addressed the squeaky leafs. In 2012 the leafs sagged (collapsed?) just down the road from the dealer. I limped it in and they estimated $3000 to replace the leaf pack. The suspension shop down the road a few blocks was replacing about 6 a week (there was a 2011 in line ahead of me).

I had them add a spring, which in hindsight, was really a poor solution. The springs are sagging again. The local dealer where I purchased the truck doesn't do TSB's/recalls. Is there a way to get Toyota to send me the new replacement springs. Am I better off waiting for a trip to Seattle and having the seatbelt and other recall done there?

I just checked with the local dealer we do business with, about the springs. He said anyone that falls into the recall will get a 4 leaf pack upgrade if they want it. He also said no springs are available at this time. As far as reimbursement for those of us that upgraded, it sounds like they will make us jump through hoops to get anywhere, at least for me. I bought my Expo's used and have no receipt, he said it would need to be sent to Toyota before they would consider it. Along with some other information I didn't inquire about when I found that out. He also told me there is a three month waiting list at their shop for frame replacements, and if you qualify he will put you in line, the frames were available and not an issue to get.

Got my letter in the mail about a month ago and have an appt scheduled for Jan 5th, I took a look at my springs before the letter and noticed they were extremely fatigued and pretty much flat. While unloaded there is about 2" between the leaf and the bump stop, which makes for a horrible ride. No cracks from what i can see. Im curious if they will replace them.....

safercar.gov still hasn't updated. They usually do right about the time people start getting notices, if not a day or two before. I check it every day and was contemplating posting up today hoping someone got a notice before they updated.

I wonder if the new rear leafs they just put on my truck when the frame was replaced will be replaced again under the recall.

In case you guys were wondering. Toyota will be replacing the leaf springs not adding any retaining clips.

    Still nothing from Toyota yet?

Also, I bought my Taco in Dec so I have no idea if the original owner got a letter or not.

Once they decide the fix can I just call the local dealer and get it serviced?

Still nothing, and customer service still has no idea when they expect letters to be going out.

You can call customer service and find out if they have you listed as the owner. Just be prepared to give them your VIN.

    Their number is 1-800-331-4331.

    Good luck!

As far as your last question goes, once the letters start going out you shouldn't have an issue scheduling an appointment to get the replacements put in.

At the dealership now with my snapped leaf spring. Gameplan is they will replace the snapped leaf spring and then when Toyota finally sends the new proper replacements I'll have to bring the truck back in to get both leaf springs replaced.

    Just a heads up.
