scan gauge or ultra gauge

I'm sure it's been asked before but I would like to know pros and cons of both besides price. I already know the difference there. I gotta get one or the other. Thanks in advance for your help.

 

Scan Gauge are great, just don't get the Scan Gauge "e", because it won't give you the transmission temperature.

I think it mainly comes down to what fits your budget, if you can afford a ScanGauge, they're great. If you can't, an UltraGauge is much cheaper and with the new trans temp ability you aren't missing out on much going with it over the other.

 

spare android phone. 8 dollar OBD bluetooth ELM327 adaptor, and torque pro... total cost like 13 bucks (and its so easy to get a paid for app on android for free so you can knock it back down to the cost of the obd adaptor)

Scan guage. Smaller footprint for an already tight cockpit and more functions.

 

I have been pleased with my ScanGaugeII. I have it mounted on top of the steering column with velcro.

 

Ultra Gauge does everything I want. Scanguage is also nice but a little more pricy

One big difference that isn't mentioned much is that the function buttons for the Scan Gauge II are on the front....Ultra Gauge is on the back so depending on where you mount it, this may be an issue. I mounted mine in the cubby at the front of the console so needed the front buttons. No issues at all with the Scan Gauge II.

 

One thing that isn't mentioned much is the function button location. Buttons are on the front of the Scan Gauge II and on the back of the Ultra Gauge, so depending on mounting this may be an issue. I needed front buttons and also had good luck with an older Scan Gauge so bought the Scan Gauge. Picture is before I cleaned things up and put a rubber grommet in the cable hole...location is the cubby below the radio and such.

 

I tow a travel trailer and I got the scan gauge II for the transmission temp read out from the pan and the torque converter outlet. At the time I bought mine Ultra gauge did not offer that option, but now they do.

The buttons on the back were really the deal breaker for me.

Lots of good input hear. I think I would prefer the buttons on the front.

 

I actually just installed a ScanGaugeII in my Tacoma today, and love it. What I like the most about it is the fact the I can program it to display transmission fluid temperature.

 

running scangaugeII, very nice. But I have to admit the OBDII + bluetooth + Torque app was nicer, you can see individual Cat temps and O2 signal and both trans temp sensors (scangaugeII takes the converter temp, usually a bit higher than pan temp sensor)... Once the tunes are swapped I'll try to incorporate an unused Samsung phone on a more 'permanent' mounting display..

 

Having a hard time finding the obd2 Bluetooth for Apple.

 

In order to use an iOS device, you will need to get a WIFI version as the iPhone isnt compatible with the Bluetooth ones... I got the WIFI ELM327 on Amazon for about $16 free shipping. Works great.

 

Ok great. I wonder why it's not Bluetooth capable.
