I don't know what you saw, but I was really only hoping to clean up this thread, and maybe provide some humor. Sean beat me to the cleaning up part. Probably better that it got deleted anyways...

Might need Eric's Bad(ass)lands winch to try to pull my head out of my ass again :D That should get us back on the usual Colorado BS thread topic.

I don't understand how, or why, you clean up a BS thread

It's like selecting certain chunks of turd out of the manure/compost pile.

Because it cleans up the arguments that do nothing but continue to upset the parties involved and never turns out well.

So who here knows about water heaters?

I replaced mine 13 years ago with a standard gas heated tank and it seems like it's on its last legs. I want to get something more efficient but don't even know where to begin.

    Tankless? Instant? Standard?

I plan on being in my house for at least another 10 years so my ROI isn't short sighted and I will certainly be able to use it.

Just want to know about options so I can started costing things out.

Hey guys I am thinking about a lift. Can I fit 285/75/16s with a spacer lift? Or if I trim can I fit 315s?

10 years is around normal usage for gas or electric. That being said, mine is close to 14 years now and I'm looking too. I'll just be going with another gas unit. If its insulated well they are pretty darn efficient.

If you got 13 years, you did well.
One big thing about going tankless is the flue. You can't just tie it into your furnace flue like a regular water heater.
Depending on where you locate it, the flue can be a deal breaker.
Also, the gas line... typical water heater will get fed 1/2" from a 3/4" drop.
Some of the tankless require a 1" gas line and some houses don't even have a 1" service so that can be another deal breaker.

Like Brett said, the newer ones are more efficient so the path of least resistance (replacing like for like) may be your best bet. It'll certainly be the easiest/cheapest.
