I love this thread!! Can anyone chime in on the star gazer feature from CVT? Mainly - is it easy/quick to go from closed to open? Are the zippers weatherproof? Does it seem to alter the integrity of the tent in any way? Trying to decide if it's worth the extra 300.

Yeah, it can be fully set up with the annex in under 10 min with a little practice. The annex is the only part that adds any measureable time. the Autana can sleep 3. I've slept 3 many times with my two teenage sons but it is pretty snug. IMO the Autana is best suited as a 2 person tent with a bit of room left for gear. Can definitely sleep a few more in the annex. For quite a while the Autana was my only tent for my family of 6. My wife and I slept in the top and my 4 kids slept in the annex.

The Ruggedized Autana has been held up at the ports with the dock strikes. We expect to have them (and the other items that show as out of stock on the website) back in stock and ready to ship within the next week or so.

Those videos are quite out of date and I've been suggesting that they update those for quite a while. In fact I'll probably just make a new series of videos myself and have the webmaster post them to the site. Just need some time to do it.

Carbon fiber wind damper... Still not sure if I like how it looks. I am thinking it would be good for the spare, pelican case and RTT.

    What do you guys think?

I LOVE my ruggedized. Compared it extensively to my friends CVT Mt. Shasta, there are a lot of differences.

I'd like one of those Autana Ruggedized over my CVT Mt Shasta. One for the color, but the more I mess with my CVT, the more durable I wish it was. Never seen a Tepui tent before, so I can't say that it would actually be a huge upgrade. But maybe someday....

The ladder is much more stable, the material is heavier duty, the color (personal preference) the diamond plate holds up better with the ladder *ladder vibrations during transit, it won't wear through the diamond plate base*, the anti condensation mat is all one piece so it doesn't fall out when you open it up, all the internal support pulls are insulated, more pockets inside, I like how there aren't sides on the rainfly on the opposite side of the ladder (kinda hard to explain but again personal preference), my friends zipper on his cover seems different, not nearly as easy to pull, and a few other small things im not thinking of ATM.

Dang it guys. I'm torn... I really really love my soft top. I bought it for camping but now I really want a RTT. I'm worried about what a pain it will be to build the bed rack over the soft top plus I'm worried about it being that high... Opinions?

Sell the soft top. OR take the soft top off and get an aluminum bed rack, when you have one on take the other off and vise versa

I love my tent but I feel it is cheap as well. I haven't experienced any of that though. I expect the velcro straps to go first, then probably the zipper on the door. The thing I was most surprised with was the mattress. I thought it would be more firm. But I'm a side sleeper so I'm picky. It's really comfy when I have an extra sleeping bag on top of the mattress to sleep on though.

Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
I feel the same way about my cvt, for the price they could make them alittle more solid..

Jason (Infra, a banned member), did a fishing trip with me back when I had my ruggedized tepui. He just got his new Mt. Shasta from the same group buy as yours and was disapointed in the quality. His travel cover fell apart on the trip.

We couldn't notice a difference in fabric thickness or strength. The floor is noticeably more stable with the plating. Both had the thicker frame. The tepui's frame sleeves are a nice touch. Kinda the difference between a room with bare walls compared to one decorated. The travel cover was also beefier but I still wore a hole through mine with the ladder some how.

The differences weren't much but not what I would consider worth it for the price hike. He had mentioned his previous CVT was better quality so not sure if corners were cut to make those GB prices or if it was just a crappy shipment. I would just call up Bobby and get the cover replaced and keep what you have. From what I have heard he will pretty much replace everything you could manage to break so no reason to switch unless you are going to a bigger or smaller tent.
