How's it work with ethanol? Think you can get away without a 7th injector kit?

 

My very limited experience with corn gas would suggest that even more fuel is required. Wouldn't that make the 7 th injector more important?

Or do I not understand the 7 th injector?

 

According to what I've read from TRD, it should work fine with any fuel rated at or above 91 octane, E-85 is 105 octane. If not, there's always the URD 7th inj upgrade kit. With what I saved on this purchase, I could buy direct from URD & still be way under the original cost.

 

7th injector kit is used to cure pinging problems and is considered almost necessary for first gen superchargers. I don't know if his fuel regulator/ management thing might be able to be adjusted?

 

1st generation S/C's are either cast aluminum or powder coated white. The black S/C's are 2nd generation so I can pretty much avoid the majority of 1st gen problems. My FlexFuel converter is capable of being adjusted. Right now I use 9-10% more fuel than mid-grade unleaded.

The other way of conversion like any of the Detroit vehicles is to use an alcohol sensor in the fuel line & then boost consumption by 30-40% upon detection.

 

I was just saying superchargers for 1st gens, or the 3.4. Didn't type that very well on my phone.

I'm sorry if I came across as being arrogant, that wasn't my intent. I had rather planned on getting a TRD S/C with a URD 7th injector, but this was too good of a deal to pass up. As far as I know I can add on a URD 7th injector later. Since my days at university I don't read that many books anymore, but I read a lot of tech manuals in completely unrelated obscure fields.

When I first had the 4Runner converted I was accused by several people of not doing my research before getting it installed. So I've spent the last 7+ yrs doing E-85 vs. mid grade unleaded gasoline research in my spare time.

From everything I've read & depending on the source of the research papers, at the very worst it's only as bad as traditional mineral sourced unleaded gasoline. At best however, according to the state emissions test center I produce 1/9th as much CO2 & 1/4 as much of everything else they test for. Plus there isn't any shellac, gum residue, carbon/soot buildup, etc, inside the engine, just bare metal with a light coating of Amsoil synthetic 5w-30. True I do get about 10% less average mileage as can be seen on my 'Fuelly' stats in my signature below. There is a trade off here though. Because of how E-85 burns in the cylinder, I get about 15 to 20% more power out of the engine above 3000 rpm, effectively giving me V8 power for the price of a V6.

That's it in a nutshell. I can get much more technical about it but it'll start to sound preachy. Or nerdy. Or conspiracy theorist-y. Or like I have far too much spare time on my hands without a girlfriend.

Oh! & I get to say that my 4Runner not a gas guzzler but merely an alcoholic.

I like those 1st gen tundras..they seem like they are the same size as a 2nd gen Taco..Good luck with that

 

Just adding it for now, might sell the runner of I don't drive it much. It needs at least a new front bumper and grill before I sell it. Was looking to do a trade possibly for a tacoma plus some cash but I think the tundra will be better suited because then I keep the runner.
