Locking down my spare

    Hey guys,
    I just got a matching spare. I mounted it onto a mount that I bought and modified. Now, I am realizing that I need to lock it down. What is the best option there? What can I do to lock it down, preferably with a key? I was thinking a bike lock, but y'all probably have a better idea. Since the mount is just a triangular piece of metal tubing, it would be hard to get something that attaches to the wheel's hub like other mounts.[​IMG]

    That bike lock is probably the best idea. People do that for Yeti coolers. If there's another way, I don't know it.

    Haha bike lock was my first idea. Hell I keep one in the bed of my truck at all times for whenever I feel I may need to keep an honest person honest.

    Anybody that really wants it will take it no matter what you do. Bike lock will be better than the stock option but someone on here will probably have a better more professional looking solution

    40 per strap is not that crazy compared to other name brand straps that don't lock.

    I didn't see a ratchet style strap though. That would be a nice option if they had it.

    I've seen a different brand with the same concept that had the ability to ratchet, but I can't seem to find it on the web.

    That's really cool. For now I went with a trusty bike lock; probably will switch to a lock strap.

    Those are awesome. Will be buying one for sure. Also, seeing that bike lock snipped like a piece of string made me regret my bike lock decision :laugh:

    OP for a cleaner look I would just put the lock through the spokes of the wheel so it is not as noticeable but still fully functional. Might be a bit more of a PINA to get to but how often to we really need to swap out our spare?

    That's true. I'll try to do that, but there's no bar down the middle of the mount so I'm not sure what I'd lock it to. Maybe the same spot, just through the stokes
