I have a jack like the one pictured below. When I bought my Tacoma a couple years ago the jack was inside. I had never used one before. So my dumbass opened up that screw that is supposed to relieve the pressure to lower your vehicle....all the way out. So a lot of fluid came out. I closed it but too late. When I tried to raise it back up, the jack would barely lift.

What type of fluid is in there? How do I refill it? Would old engine oil do the trick?

Hydraulic jack/cylinder oil, you can get it at an auto parts store.

That's the stuff. Yeah, tip the jack over and fill it up. TEST it before you trust anything valuable to it!

Edit- And don't forget the jack stands!

Torin bottle jacks = Made in China.
Craftsman bottle jacks = Made in China.

Their quality is comparable. If you want something made in the USA, US Jack (http://www.usjack.com/) are about the only option these days.
