You heard correctly, it is awesome... it taste like beef (cow) and it does not have that wild flavor as the whitetailed deer (also great flavor). This Axis deer was taken on a December 2006 hunting trip to Kerrville, TX, right on this area you can even see them on the road along with the whitetailed deer, black bucks and turkeys, there are a lot of wild game out there.
