Hello, I just saw in one of your comments that you spend a month in Baja every year...I'm planning a trip down... hopefully beginning of February... I'm originally from CA, but living in Phoenix for now... going down Mex 5... original plan was fishing for yellowtail around Bahia Asuncion..
but an old friend of mine is planning on a trip to 7 sisters...so, since I'm planning on being in the general area, I was thinking about going, too. Have you been down there?

I'm looking for advice on taking our '07 2.7 AC 4x2... Do you think that's doable without 4 wheel drive? I'm thinking about putting on BFG KO²s to replace our worn street tires...

If you have any words of wisdom, I'm all ears... haven't been down in 20+ years!

p.s. - Are those Pro Comp 7069s on your ride?

I just bought those in 15x8 but haven't installed them yet. Another guy on here said he needed 3mm shims to clear the calipers...

Did you have the same issue?

Hola, I am def. a warm water guy so usually go all the way South to the Tip area. Know many people that do go to that zone.

Locals drive roads on some of the most beat vehicles so yes you could do it in yours. Better tires are always better!

Just go and have fun! I love Baja and lucky to travel and work there. Get yourself insurance, FMM, eat lots of tacos

Lots of info and you can ask questions on "Talk Baja" on Facebook.

I have 17's on my truck and needed no shims. Had a bit of rub on the plastic fender and just trimmed.

@grichg Hola, I'm not a big fan of cold water, either, but kind of figured I'd check it out since I'll be in the general area. 4/3s are not really my thing, but I've been checking them out lately...been looking at Vissla suits which I think are from your neck of the woods...Laguna Niguel or somewhere near there.

I figured the locals drive beaters...and figured we could do it in ours and then I see "reports" or "guides" for the area that say "4x4 required"... Well, we'll give it a go...and get the better tires!

      Thanks for the tips...

Visual makes a great suit. Paul Naude that used to run Billabong/USA started Vissla and they live here in Laguna Beach where I am.

Baja is amazing. I am planning a trip South to La Ventana in March.

Good to know about Vissla. Thanks for the feedback. They look nice, but you never know until you try 'em. I've got an O'Neill Psycho II 4/3 in great condition from about 9 years ago...It's almost brand new, but I know wetsuit flexibility has come a long way...so I may just get a new one...the prices can't be beat.

I lived in Malibu (and Newport Beach back in my college days) before moving to AZ, but that stretch of coast from Dana Point to Newport is my favorite.

I agree, Baja is amazing and I can't wait to get back down there. Good luck with your trip to La Ventana...sounds like you may be into kite surfing, too?

      Thanks again for the suggestions.
