My Tacoma didn’t come with a wireless charger, and I wanted to add one that would look factory-installed. I came up with the idea of using a Hilux wireless charger that’s available on AliExpress and Amazon. I just finished installing it and it was a total success! I had searched the forums for this info and couldn’t find anything, so I thought I’d share it in case anyone else wants to do this mod.

This is the charger you need to get.

Then you’ll need to take it apart to make a template, trim the edges of the charger, and stick them to the Tacoma’s charging panel using double-sided tape.

Use a router with a flush trim bit — that’s how you cut out the panel.

Then secure the charger plate with a bit of silicone, and connect the harness to the cigarette lighter-style connector.

Here’s the final result. I recommend checking the height of your cut before drilling into the truck’s panel, depending on your phone. For my phones — an iPhone XR and an iPhone 15 Pro Max — the ideal spot was about half an inch above the bottom edge of the panel.

I forgot to mention you can drill a small 1/8” hole and mount the charge status LED behind the panel. Blue means standby, green means charging. If the LED flashes red, it’s because the panel location wasn’t correct — you can fix it by adding a small spacer inside the charging tray.

Here it is charging — I’ve already tested it while driving and everything worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone out. Greetings from Aguascalientes, Mexico!
