Ok, I’ve e got the 09 TRD Sport with JBL stereo and when I use an aux cable to listen to music from my phone it seems not to fit in all the way as I get a lot of static and sometimes only plays out of passenger side speakers.... Anyone else have this issue or could it be the aux cable I purchased off eBay???

    Thanks

Check your aux cable. It's either trash, or not seeded properly in either the device or the HU. If you're getting audio out of one side of speakers, twist the cable to see if that corrects it. Also, use the aux cable on other devices to rule it out (speakers, headphones, etc).

Most likely the cable. Replace it. You can get one cheap at Walmart.

Thanks. It’s not the device as I’ve tried multiple phones. I can twist the cable n it’ll work great but then it just reverts back. I also bought another aux cable at Target being a Belkin one, it’s not as bad but does the same crap, I’m very annoyed with it and I know the ultimate solution would be a new headunit with Bluetooth but I really don’t want to drop the cash on that atm....

You might try cleaning out the aux port in your phone and the truck. Sometimes after months of plugging and unplugging, and particularly on your phone if you keep it in your pocket, you'd be surprised how much cruff gets in there. I use a wooden toothpick, that I squish the point down on something hard to kinda smoosh it out making a hook. Shove into aux port and twirl, yank out, repeat until no lint or stuff comes out. Then spray out with compressed air to complete.

There are videos on YouTube on this subject. I find I have to do this every so often when my headphone plug starts acting up on the phone (I use it almost constantly).

The list is long, but distinguished.
I wouldn't rule out the port for the radio, Toyota made faulty ports around that year across all their lines. I replaced my cousins for around $10 from the dealer. Took about 30 seconds, and solved his problem.

I have that happen a few times and it was either the phone case wasn't allowing the AUX cable to seat properly and the other was a bad cable.

Now I use a small bluetooth connector to AUX port to avoid that issue.

I think so.. I haven't dug too deep into it yet. I am hoping its just a pull out the old one, and install the new one. the only thing you need to remove I believe is the HVAC controls and the radio

Yeah they're trying to rob you blind. I found one for sale on here used.. May be able to track one down, perhaps create a thread saying to want to buy one? Mine came out of a 2013 truck, so im not sure it will even work. The one in my 09 is an aux input only. The replacement has USB and Aux. Going to avoid wiring in the USB right now though

If you need a aux jack i have one in my garage its from my 2010 it worked when I took it out. I could sell it to you. Make me an offer. Getting the switch out is a little time consuming you have to take the center console apart you can do it in about 20 minutes. Or you can try and pry out the old one with two small flat head screwdrivers but you can scratch up the plastic easy image.jpg
