09 PreRunner question

Hey guys. I’m new to the forum and am currently looking for my first tacoma. Preferably 09-12. I came across an 09 PreRunner online that has an outlet in the bed. I thought those were exclusive to the TRD off-road and sport packages. Am I wrong?? It also has a PreRunner sticker I have never seen and doesn’t have the PreRunner tag on the tailgate? I could post a link if that would help. Thanks!

 

Look at the dash. If it looks like this, it’s a TRD off road. If it has the left and right switches, but not the middle one and it has a hood scoop, color matched mirrors and door handles, it’s a TRD sport.

Prerunner is the 2WD configuration and was available with both TRD packages.

 

It has the left and right switch but not the middle one. It’s also has color matched handles and mirrors, but no scoop?

 

So, it’s a TRD sport that someone swapped the hood for a non scoop hood, and removed the bedside TRD stickers. As I mentioned, if it’s a prerunner, it’s 2WD.

 

Okay cool thank you for the help! Do all of the PreRunners have the tag on the tailgate? Or do you think it was removed as well?

 

Yes, all 2nd gen prerunners had the chrome prerunner emblem on the tailgate. Someone might have removed the emblem to make people think it’s a 4WD, or it might have had the tailgate replaced with one off a 4WD.

 

Hmm so odd. It has no chrome emblem on the tailgate and where it’s supposed to say trd sport it says Toyota PreRunner in red letters lol so I was confused
