I am fairly new to the tacoma thing. Got my first Tacoma about 2 months ago (2006 dbl cab off road) and got the oil changed the other day and they mentioned getting new plugs in it since it has 104k miles.

What are your thoughts on it. Do I need new plugs? Is that a standard thing you all do at 100k miles? It runs great. The "stealership" can sometimes get people to do some unneeded maintenance so I wanted to see what you all do first. I am new to the toyota dealership in town, but the ford guys have fed me some lines in the past. That is for sure.

So what do you guys think, and while your at it, is there anything else I should get done maintenance wise at about 100K miles?

(FYI: this truck was a private deal not from a dealership, if that means anything)

    Thanks,
    Mike

unfortunately most V6's have copper plugs so it's recommended they be changed every 30k miles

When i hit 100k in my 05 i drained and refilled the coolant with the toyota pink long life coolant, also had my tranmission flushed at the dealer (now i think they say at 60K), changed the spark plugs (toyota oem), and changed out the front shocks to the bilstein 5100s. Other than that, i just did your regular maint. (oil change, air filter, greased up driveline, etc...)

and change your gear oils too, especially if you dont know if any of this stuff has been changed before

    good luck and welcome

Regular old Valvoline in the recommended weight for each application. No real need to run synthetic in them.

    Plugs every 30K for sure.

I would also do the oil in both diffs, trans, transfer case as well. Toyota is kind of vague. The recommend every 12K if the truck is mostly used for towing, etc. Then they say never if not used hard. I believe in 30K for drivetrain fluids. The coolant is due at 100K as well.
