2.7l 4cyl 4wd. I've had the vibration for a while now. I have a small amp for my 4x 6.5" speakers and also have a touch screen head unit. here are my symptoms: only when I'm idling there are very small vibrations. I'm pretty sure my rpms at idle don't fluctuate but I'll check. Usually about 1k idle rpm. I noticed when I'd roll up the window all the way and keep holding the switch after the window is all the way up even for a second the vibrations increase. I just replaced the ground wire to the fender because it was pretty frayed and was only holding on by a thread(this helped a little). My battery is pretty old but definitely is still working. I can listen to music for like 30mins+ without the truck on and no problem starting the truck up again. Could it be the alternator going bad or maybe the alternator pulley? If there is any other information you need let me know and I'll answer.

    Thanks

UPDATE: my idle rpm is actually 750ish and i noticed when i use ANY electronic device while idling (windshield wipers, roll up windows, stereo etc..) the rpm drops to like 700 or 650. Could it be i just need to raise the rpm for when its idling? because as soon as i take my foot off the brake and it goes back up to 900 or 1000 the vibration goes away like it was never there..

So after a ton of research I figured out that I need a valve adjustment and only the dealership will do it because supposedly they don't sell the tools to other shops. They quoted me at 275$. So I guess this is just a heads up for anyone who has gotten a valve job on a 3rz engine you need to get them adjusted 6months-1year after.

just picked my truck up from the toyota dealership and it seems like they did a great job. no idle vibrations at all any more. they gave me some GREAT deals too.. so they quoted me at 275$ for the adjustment. turned out they had to take the cam shafts out because some of the valves were too tight and the new cost would be 900$. but since they quoted me @ 275 they decided to split the 900 with me so i only paid 450. also they couldn't finish my truck on the said date so they gave me a free courtesy 2013 venza suv for the day. must say that is some of the best customer service that i have ever experienced and i will be a returning customer.

What adjustment tool? Isn't the 3rz a shim over bucket adjustment? Do you mean calipers?

i dunno i was told by a few shops that they can't do the job because toyota doesn't sell the adjustment tools to any one because they want you to go to the dealer to get the valve adjustment.

yea it has shims for sure.

and a quick update the problem isn't fixed actually.. but the valve adjustment was definitely well needed and made a huge improvement. especially when going up hills there is a very noticeable difference. but as soon as i was going up some big hill and i went almost up to 3k rpm when i got to the next stop sign i was vibrating again.. :/ but i looked at all my vacuum hoses and there were a lot of cracked ends that i cut off (helped a little bit).. i also noticed my pcv valve looks like its leaking and that is one of the things listed as a cause to idle vibrations. gunna check my egr valve too saw a video on youtube on how to check them its super easy. I'm determined to fix this vibration its been bugging me for too long.

so after taking it back to the dealership they told me the IAC is getting stuck. shoulda figured that one out myself since when i cleaned the throttle body it smoothed out really nice but a couple days later went rough again. they wanted 600$ to replace it 300 of it was for the valve itself. i decided I'm just gonna get a 2$ gasket for the IAC and clean it the best i can.
