200K Timing Chain

    Did the 12v test to the selenoid while running and pulled the vvt screen. Even pulls the oil drain pan. No sludge or any build up on the pickup screen either.

    If the chain was stretched would the 12v test still kick the gear in and cause engine bog.

    Predator tube steps, Ranch Hand grill guard, Magnaflow CatBack exhaust, Toyota tool box & bed mat, 2LO Module by @Up2NoGood, Rearview Compass/Temp Mirror, Tune by @JustDSM.
    Yes the timing should still change if you activate the solenoid with the engine running, if it doesn't then it sounds like you have a plugged oil passage, bad solenoid, or bad cam phaser.

    Yes, its pretty much the only test I really do before calling a chain.

    I command both intake vvti, watch their readings and rpm drop.

    Thanks. So I did originally go with an Aftermarket selenoid. Very possible for port line up issues on the aftermarket. I may go with an OEM selenoid and try it and see if that fixes it.

    Thanks for the help folks fixed p0012. The aftermarket vvt selenoid was causing the issue. I got a factory Toyota solenoid and no more code just waiting for Evap monitor to clear. Drove it several times yesterday and no engine light .
