I feel bad for the Ghanaians , the African supporters , and especially Asmoah Gyan .

The defender in the goal put his hands to the ball in a reaction , and should have been sent off , but after Gyan missed the penalty , the sending off meant nothing . They should give the referee the ability to award a goal , as is the case in hockey .

Ghana was robbed of a place in history as the first african nation to get to the final 4 teams .

I dont think they were robbed. They missed the PK a golden opportunity. It was a great strike..just a couple inches to high. After that they lost in PKs as well.

I agree , " robbed " , might not have been the right word , but " unlucky " didn't seem strong enough either . Basically Uraguay was unpunished for an intentionally handled ball on the goal line , a for sure goal with seconds left .

No , I was right the first time , they were robbed .

K robbed would be Mexico v. Argentina where the ball Clearly crossed the line. Nothing was awarded for that mistake and Mexica was eliminated. Also that offside call that wasnt called on Argentina. If both were taken care of that would ahve been a tie game. In this case it is beyond obvious that it was clearly going to be a goal. They were given a penalty kick. He misses. I dont see it as robbed.

I guess the point is , as you stated ," it was obviously a goal " , and then it wasn't .

Going to be, never crossed lol. Ghana had two shots blocked in PK's...Urugauy only shanked one wasnt even blocked. I think that says something as well. Overall it was as fair as the game states. There was a foul he was ejected and they were given a second opportunity..an opportunity most people dont miss. Oh well I do feel bad for them cant deny that but the controversy everyone is hyping it to be I feel is nonsense. But thats just my opinon..I know many will disagree. Cant wait for tomorrows game though Im out time to catch a couple drinks take it easy man

I'm not hyping their situation , and you are right that everything that happened was according to the rules . I just wish Ghana had gone through , it would have been great for African football .

    Great games tomorrow ,

    Peace ,

I would posit that ball would have been in the netting if he had not handled it. It was clearly 6 inches right of his head and the other defender was not any closer. The keeper was already beat. That ball was going in until that D-Bag defender used his hands. It never should ahve gone to the shootout for them to lose...That's getting robbed.

Someone said it before- Probably some of the best heads up play this WC...He gets sent off and they stay alive to go to PKs and end up staying in to play the next game.

Even if he ball was 6 inches right of his head..Ghana was given a second opportunity. Its honestly just reaction and smart thinking. He KNEW he was going to be gieven a red card and dismissed from the game. We all knew it when it happend..me being a soccer player of 13 years and still playing indoor soccer. You may call him a douche bag..but his team is going on not only for his actions...but also because Ghana didnt win the penalty contest

Since replying to an earlier response...there has to be some sort of understanding of the complete differnence of Mexico being robbed and Ghana receiving a penalty kick. Ghana was given an opportunity to recover while Mexico was just dismissed of anything. No matter what anyone thinks...It all went according to regulations

Just because it went according to the rules does not mean it's right.

They got to the shootout because he cheated to block an obvious game winning shot. Winning on PKs is about the lowest quality of win I can think of except a "forfeit"-Ghana put together better actual play and they were robbed.

Not really interested in the second match. Spain or Paraguay, whoever wins is gonna get their ass kicked by Germany.
