Just thought I'd post to see if this is a re occurring problem with my year or 2nd generations in general.....Put the key into the ignition, drove to the store and now the key won't come out! I tried moving the truck, turning wheel from extreme left to extreme right, in reverse to park, etc. I'm suspecting either the ignition switch or something with the lockout...frustrating cause this thing is garaged since I got it and not a daily driver. has 8k miles. Still have to bring it to the dealership for the heat which doesn't work at all for the floor and now I have another to add to the list. I'm beginning to wonder if I should have bought a Nissan. I have a 99 Nissan with 170k and haven't had any problems with it like this thing. Enough ranting, anyone have a similar problem??

Never had that problem or the floor heater issue. Sucks to get a new truck and have issues with it. Toyota will take care of you though, and no, you should not have bought a Nissan!

update, I went out and I was thinking I was just going to leave the key in it, but I ended up fuss'ing with it and it came out. Now it seems to be working but the steering wheel still doesn't lock. It's going in for an oil change so i'll have'm check it out.

Sounds like your steering column has issues.

I'm thinking the lock cylinder but we'll see what the dealer comes up with...

update....... hasn't done it since that one time! I brought it to the dealer for a regular scheduled oil change and I told the lady to write it on the ticket so I have it documented. Of course she tells me that if you want that to be looked at you have to make another appointment, this section of the dealer only does basic services. I'll keep an eye on it but if it happens again she's going in! ( I do have a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty so no real rush yet)
