My 2015 Tacoma goes in tomorrow for frame rust inspection. Question for group here If I may thank you, Is this enough for replacement of frame 4.jpg 3.jpg 2.jpg 1.jpg or just the coating stuff. Thanks again

That looks to be just surface rust. Replacement of the frame is only done if it fails inspection due to perforations above a minimum size in specified areas of the frame. My 15 is going down the same path as yours, many of the weld seams are corroded but nothing seems to be below the surface wherever I try to probe it with a screwdriver.

Toyota will replace the frame if under 12 years old since placed in service and the hole in the frame is 10 MM or greater. If the hole looks like it was manually made bigger they could turn you down for a frame replacement. I would use the search function on here and type frame rust prevention. There are many good products, you are going to need patience and preparation of the frame to apply the product that you use. G.L.

I bet they will say it's fine. I don't agree, but I'm in TN and mine isn't much better.

Take it you didn't touch the undercarriage with any rust inhibitors.

It looks good for a 5 year old New England vehicle OP. It also looks like this is the first time you have looked under it.

I can’t believe Toyota never really fixed this problem. My sons abused and neglected 2001 pathfinder Frame looks better. My 2005 tacoma had the frame replaced.

Nope is the correct answer. I have a sweet Free loaner since Monday and there out of the undercoating stuff on back order. Will have this one for possible couple weeks.

    1. I can't wait until I get back to New England.
    2. When you get your stuff back, check under the truck and see what has been done, and what you can improve on. There are lots of threads on the subject of rust prevention/mitigation. With a truck in a salt state, it will require attention every year.

Very cool. Did they fail the frame or just something else?
