I have always assumed it was the suspension. How could you if it was something else? It does drive fine. It gets off-roaded a fair amount so having the left side 1" shorter seems like there would be less suspension travel and or load carrying capacity. I think any sort of spacer would only level it for looks and not actually change anything if the spring itself is squashed for example, the frame is the same distance to the bump stop with or without a spacer.

Well, a few of us have the exact or nearly the same issue... whatever that is, while some Tacos are perfectly level. Our drives and rides fine. I've no idea if there are any consequences like poor tire wear as the dealer had put on brand new tires in January when I bought it. Last week I replaced those with some new Wildpeaks and I don't put a lot of miles on it, so it'd be quite a while before I'd know.

Just went out and measured it to see if there was any change. The driver's side is exactly 1" lower than the passenger side (35.5" vs 36.5"). Fronts are identical at 34.5".

I just find it a bit annoying to look at from the rear. Looks kinda wonky but I'm probably the only one that notices. Initially I was concerned that something (an unrecorded accident?) was wrong but after crawling around under it more than a couple of times (installing new diff breather extension hose, remote tailgate lock, cat shields and such) it's all OEM under there as far as I can tell. Bilstein shocks aren't leaking and the leaf springs appear normal. I guess if it's running and driving fine I'm not going to worry too much.

Good to hear the feedback though and if anyone comes up with a cure... please let the rest of us in on your secret! ;)

Well, I'm back with good news... but no idea what fixed it except possibly a four-wheel alignment.

The measurements from the ground to the bottom of the fender well through the center of the rear wheels is now 36" on both sides! (Front remains even at 34" on both sides.)

Since I got it a few months ago, our Tacoma has always pulled slightly to the right but I wanted to wait until I bought some new tires to have it aligned. I had some new Toyo Open Country AT3s installed a few weeks ago.

Last week I noticed that the dealer I bought it from had a $30 discount on their wheel alignments, about on-par with the independent shop I was going to take it to. When I dropped it off I mentioned the "bed lean". The service writer noted it on the work order. When I picked it up it was a little crazy (short-staffed day or whatever) so I didn't get a chance to ask about anything.

Drove it home and measured the ground-to-wheel well distance on the rear. Perfectly even at 36.0" on both sides. Drove it a couple-hundred miles and measured it just now. Still perfectly even. Huh.

I've no idea if the alignment had an effect or not, but here's a copy of the before/after measurements. Maybe an alignment expert will chime in.

Just happy that it's "normal" now. Drives fine (besides the light pull to the right it drove fine before as well). All seems to be good.

So if all else fails for anyone else experiencing this issue, an alignment might be worth a try.
