My issues were that when the truck had been parked a few minutes, when I’d click the unlock button on the remote my turn signals would not illuminate on the first unlock. I think the beeper still worked. The fact that the speedo calibrator was disabling the turn signals made me concerned about “what else” might be interfered with.

I dug into the dash to remove and reinstall the calibrator two different times. Both times I removed it, it was quite warm to the touch. Granted it was in the dash and it was summer, but it felt like it was generating its own heat. Nothing else in that area was as hot as the calibrator. So I sent it back and counted it as a loss.

I checked with some auto trans users and none had issues. So maybe it’s manual transmission specific.

@Speedfreak has one on a manual (or had one last I saw), and I don’t know if he had the same issue. It definitely worked for fixing the calibration on mine, but I didn’t like the unlock blinker not working right or the heat to the module when I’d remove it.

Will you need to? I thought they run off the ABS sensors too and don’t need calibration, but I’m not well versed in 2G.

I've got a Dash Cam with GPS Speed on it. It seems to be very accurate when you are on level ground and set to cruise control so there are less variables. I'll use that to verify and validate.

I have not experienced any oddities with or without my calibration module in place. I reprogram it twice a year as I am running 265/70R16's as winters and 265/70R17's for summer. The module has not been hot when I remove it.

I have tried reprogramming it when in the truck but have had to remove it to be successful, everytime. When I try to connect with it installed, the program can't find the module. I have it installed so I can just reach up behind the dash and remove and install it singlehandedly.

I have a manual and my turn signals don't light up until the 3rd unlock click on the key. Been running my speedo calibrator for a while. Never put the two together, doesn't bother me at all. My speedo being out on the other hand does bother me. I ran one on my colorado for 3 or 4 years no issue. My brother has been running one on his auto sport for 3 years no issue as well.

That’s good. I could not find anyone to confirm if they had the same condition as me or not. Good that it doesn’t cause issues.

My speedo is off by 1 mph at highway speeds with the tires I chose so it is not a big deal anyways. Factory Speedo reads a bit fast which leaves some room for a larger tire. However, the factory odometer is spot on, so I am shorting the miles on the clock which also means my true mpg is better than shown. I wanted to calibrate it so that the mpg would be closer to accurate. But I’m not paying for the calibrator again at this point, and there’s a chance that I’ll downsize tires closer to stock eventually anyways.

Interesting, my speedo read dead on from factory.

Maybe a difference from US to Canada, they definitely are 2-3 mph fast at 70 here in the US. While the odometer is still perfectly accurate. The 1" larger tires fix the speedometer to be correct while then shorting the odometer a bit.
