They're St. Jude's boots. A lot of guys were wearing them last night.

Challenging and shit are two entirely different things... I get that they are trying to push the envelope of circuit design but footpeg deep ruts and bare plywood berms are dangerous for riders.

Maybe they need to spend more time on procuring better loamy soil for these tracks. Last night looked ridiculous hard packed. Was it all clay?

Man this is probably the last race we will see of tomac. That's rough. Congrats on chase. It seems like he got that bike setup to his liking finally.

I’m hoping he can make it back for the playoffs in September but doesn’t seem likely.

I wasn't aware. Alpinestar's just shows them as Limited Edition Laser tech 10s.

I could very well be wrong. I don't think the boots are specifically a st Jude edition, just thought purple was associated with the hospital. Seemed like there was a lot of purple in general last night.

If he didn't blow it out too bad, possible. Be nice to see tomac race again. The broadcast sure made it seem he is done for 23.

I like purple, just not that pasty used chewing gum purple. On another note, I see Alpinestar's instagram has been taking a beating with comments about "the boots that ended Tomac's career" and how they "don't offer any foot support."

I can't imagine he comes back this year, or at all. When Jeremy Coker says he is done for the season, then that pretty much means he is done. If there was even a slight chance that he could return for the SMX playoffs he wouldn't have said that, in my opinion.
People are so stupid. Tech 10s offer tons of support. I actually went to a Tech 7 to get more Flex, because Tech 10s just seemed like overkill for me. Plus Tech 10s have a specific blade system in the back to absorb impacts exactly like what happened to Eli. What it comes down to is these guy are riding on the balls of their feet and there isn't a large window for error with the impacts of SX. His foot probably slid back a little bit farther than it should of and that was that. Kind of a freak thing. Not the boots fault. Some people were claiming that the buckle came loose or something. If that was the case, then I could see that contributing.

Either way, just kind of makes me sick for Eli. To go from basically having the title wrapped up and going into the Outdoors with a ton of momentum. A possibility of even re-signing for '24 etc, to being hurt, not getting either title and probably not racing again. Just brutal for him, the fans/sport in general.

Social media is absolutely ridiculous right now. People are commenting on Chase's page saying he won by default and didn't earn or deserve it. The convo is even getting to the point where they are suggesting he willingly give up the championship to Eli next weekend "out of respect". Heck, at the race Saturday night I'd say 1/4 of the stadium left right after Eli pulled off the track. That pissed me off to see, and then those same people want to talk about respect online. Never satisfied moto fans. We talk about less entertaining racing because of injury, but people quickly forget that Eli won the championship early at the same race last year. So what's the entertainment? Domination or competition? I'd say we were fortunate to have good racing this season and a battle down to the last couple of races. It didn't go it Eli's favor and that sucks, but even considering injury this was still a pretty entertaining season in my opinion.

Do you think they meant SX season or the entire year? It sounds like a 3 month recovery after surgery for that kind of injury. He could be back for the playoffs. I wouldn’t think he would want to end his career on an injury.

It sounded to me like they meant season, as in the rest of the year. Obviously I have no idea if he could recover in time for SMX. If so, that would be amazing. I don't expect that to happen, but I would certainly welcome it, if it is possible. And I agree, I would love to see him come back. That is a bad way to go out. I guess that is something that he will have to think on, while he recovers. But it just seems like a long-shot for someone who has been flirting with the idea of hanging it up for a year now. But time will tell.

No way its 3 months. It took Kobe Bryant 7 months to get back on a basketball court and you know he worked harder to recover then 99% of people.

    I guess
it will come down to how bad it is injured and how successful the surgery is.

Ruptured is never good, a tear is much faster and simpler repair. I believe they said ruptured.
