21 off road - introduction

Hello all, this is my first post - About a month ago I bought a new 21 off road in army green. Really wanted a manual but I had to settle for an auto because of the vehicle shortage. Manuals were on order with a 10-12 month lag time. I knew right away I wanted to tune it, got a KdMax tune with 300 miles on the odometer and love it. The second day I had it I removed the Tacoma and V6 badges from the doors and tailgate. Ordered seat lifters from desert does it and a chrome delete kit from meso customs for the interior. Also got a black exhaust tip since mine didn't come with one.

I'm from Chicago and this is my first truck, my other car is a mk6 gti with about $100k invested, it's a track car and I bought this truck to be able to tow it, just need to find a trailer.

Anyways, I'm not new to forums - I'm a moderator on the golfmk6 forum. Looking forward to learning more about this platform and joining the community. Cheers

Manuals are how far out??? I must be lucky because I ordered mine in March and it came end of July. For what it's worth it's a crappy transmission, but I like clutch pedals too much to go with an auto.

Yeah tell me about it. I could y even find a dealer who was willing to order one for me custom. Had to find one that was being delivered and put a deposit down, I was looking for over 4 months before just settling for an auto. I'm a manual guy through and through...the poster in my garage now mocks me every day for buying an auto

 

Hah just make sure you always park the GTI next to it to give you a karma buffer.

 

Put these Hondo knobs on the radio and a blacked out steering wheel emblem. Not too thrilled with the Hondo knobs. They're cheap and don't really want to stay on. May end up painting the oem knobs and putting them back on.

After browsing for a few minutes you'll find the Rav4radio knobs is the best route. They fit like stock and retain the backlighting. The search function will produce posts with the part number, ~$30 shipped for a set.

Also, I had to wait 6mo for my 21 OR manual, and that was before Toyota got hit by the chip shortage, so yeah I can see how vehicle orders are twice that now. At least you got a great color!
