Years ago I worked for a builder and we met every morning in a restaurant. “Browns Diner” in downtown Plainwell had a “heart attack special “ on the menu, 3eggs,hash browns, bacon/sausage,toast,coffee. $2.50 plus tax and tip.

$2.50? That had to be years ago.

Early eighties, brand new 4x4 pickup was 10K, and jobs were hard to find.
    I was making $10.00 an hour o_O

I remember jobs being hard to find in the early 80s. I graduated from college and the pickings were slim, as we were still recovering from the bad economic times in the mid to late 70s. But we were young and full of hope and possibilities. :)

    Good Morning :hattip:

Good morning all. A little bit of snow in the forecast later. Hopefully it’ll glue down the leaves in that neighbor’s yard that didn’t rake their yard this year.

He has many good qualities, she knew him a couple of years before they started dating. My wife and I feel pretty fortunate she found a “good one “.

Small world. I've been to Plainwell many times, but have never been to Brown's Diner. :) I started an online community for fans of Heritage Guitars back in 2007. The next year, we had enough members and interest to hold a get together and factory tour. The first five or six years, the get together was really a "barn jam" held in a big old barn on a centennial farm up in Plainwell (owned by the parents of one of the members). It was phenomenal; miss those days. It got pretty big, people from outside the US would plan their vacations to be there. The factory eventually decided we should have the jam at their plant, which was...meh. Then COVID killed the party; we haven't had one in three years. Plainwell is a nice place, though. Great people!

My wife went to her mom’s for the weekend so me and the dog are doing the bachelor thing. Time to clean the house. Holy cow we got a big house when you’re doing it by yourself

    Morning all

Lots of rain today. Something we need.

My backyard has drainage issues, always did. I wanted a big drain system that was overruled for form over function.

Now I have to go out in the rain and clear the 2 in drainhole several times a day. And my workroom still floods

Wow! That is awesome; I love Heritage guitars. The old shop had so much history and character. Sure, it was a fire trap and inefficient from a process flow standpoint, but... :D The new space is pretty nice, though; clean, orderly. Have you worked there long? Did you ever make it to any of the PSPs? Heck, are you in any of the group pictures in front of the factory?!

I asked Marv one time about making an H-157 with staple P90 in the neck, sort of a tribute to the 1954 LP Black Beauty (my personal holy grail of guitars). He told me sure, no problem, talk to Ren. I called a week or so later and talked to Ren, who told me no way. I was crushed. Then a couple years after that you all put out the limited edition with staple P90. But by then I was travelling for work a lot and didn't figure I'd have time to enjoy it.

Still would like to get one of those but they're rare (although there has been one overpriced one on Reverb for quite a while). Have thought a couple of times about reaching out to Pete and see if he'd do a faithful '54 knock off without the limited edition banner on the headstock, but I have too many guitars as it is. :D I have one of the original run of H-137DD (two humbuckers, stop tail); Ren told me there were less than a dozen of those made. Also have an even rarer H-127 with the D-VIP setup; Ren said maybe a handful of them exist, never really caught on.
