I learned that from you guys from being on the Coral Sea. After that every ship I was on in the tool cage in the pit I made them paint the tool hanging board with the tools on them. You didn't relieve the watch until they were all full or accounted for. Not a lot of Ace Hardware stores in the middle of the ocean to pick up a 3/4" box wrench when they are laying at the bottom of the bilge. It really helped a lot.

Yep missing tool all work stops everyone starts looking in the box , the vehicle used to transport , the whole plane not just the area worked found many set down on something while... forms , talking to CC or expeditor etc . We have skirmish line walked the ramp looking for an apex or counter sink etc . All boxes were shadow foamed , inventoried by mechanic before signing out and him and a NCO before it came back in along with the CTK personel checking it . God help the person who lost a tool and did not know it !! Knowing it was not good but you owned it so no real bad things maybe a counseling session I it was your first .. AND LAST time lol. I have to say in my career only lost one tool and it was never found again no idea where it went. Though , All I got was a verbal ass chewing .. there is a story behind why there was no paper work lol. It involves another mech who SCREWED up big time failure to follow repair instructions and the panel he installed fell off in flight.. He had orders to the Thunderbirds so they swept it under the rug. When the gauge I and another mech working out of the same box was lost . They threatened all kinds of bad stuff till the other mech higher rank then I asked for the same punishment the guy who lost the panel if flight got from our Branch Chief. Hence the tongue lashing and stink eye for a few weeks till some one else fucked up lol..Course he committed a domestic so ..

I heard the real fun was dropping small loose parts in the cockpit. Like ball bearings.

FU !!! Like a back seater who dropped a half a large bag of M&Ms on the way across the pond to Italy.. We had to tear that cockpit apart to find them !! We told them take the plane up and roll It take them off the canopy lol umm they said no something about F4s not doing well flying inverted .. god damn candy ass pilots !! LOL

We had one ground his own plane that was fun to watch from the wing tip area... . He left is mid chest flight suit pocket open and had change from a soda purchase just before coming out to the plane. He leaned over the cockpit to check the seat before getting in and we all heard the coins hit the console and floor etc . He looked at us real quick and tried to pick some of it up like nothing. Crew Chief called him down from the ladder as he was motioning the Expeditor over . Oh yeah the pilot was like I got it all there is no problem nope plane grounded the crew truck came out to pick him and his back seater up and guess who was on it.. A Light Colonel and not just any Half a chicken but the Deputy Commander for Operations LOL. He started ripping that Captains ass as soon as he stepped on the truck and before the door was closed lol.

Damage that was caused when the Forrestal collided with the ship that was refueling us at sea. Any sailor can tell you that they are in constant communications and they have a measuring line between both ships to watch distance between ships and we still had this happen. Next time they refueled us, they had a biggggg rubber bumper tied to their stack as a joke.

    :anonymous: btdt not fun

Used to "love it" when we'd drop rivets, etc, we'd have the seat pulled and go on a fishing expedition and we'd find all kinds of stuff. Can't prove who dropped a bolt, but a drilled rivet.....

Or the time when a guy thought he'd dropped a punch in the cockpit and DROPPED A SECOND one to see if they both landed in the same place  Come to find out, the first one wasn't in the cockpit.

    afternoon boys

Every rivet they found on morning Fod Walk or the monthly runway walk was structures fault lol hell they would try to get us for screw damage on the impeller blades since one of the QA guys figured out Jo Bolt stems resembled screws lol till we or rather our boss should him a screw next to a stem pitch was WAYYYYY different lol

I do hope you all fixed that case of stupids ... drop another tool to see where the first one went LOL

Not, I'm the passenger, wife won't let me drive her car. Says I'm not a good driver. I drive 30k miles a year and she commutes 5 miles to work. Don't get me started on her 'skills' as a driver.

Yeah, had to wonder where all the screws/bolts came from that no one claimed  Yeah, they tried to blame us for all kinds of stuff that wasn't our fault. We usually owned up to our mistakes, but no one else did. Oh, well, don't have to worry about that anymore :woot:

Happy to see you aren't texting and driving. on your comment about her skills - you got this far without any wrecks, what's the problem? :p

Can't tell you how many times had to watch this film from the USS Forrestal.

134 people died that day in 67. It became the standard training film for damage control and fire fighting for many years.

Well, It appears I screwed up. I guess you have to book your camping on Pismo beach in January if you want to camp July 4 weekend.:frusty:
So, that is going to cost me about 400 dollars, just for 2 days. I sure hope I can find some camping spots up the coast later.
