Not sure I really like this Albertson's use to make French bread fresh in the store and it was damn good .. good enough you best buy 2 loaves as one was not likely to make it all the way home in one piece : ]

It was a merger and Albertson aquired safeway stock, but safeway CEO is in charge, so let's call it a merger.

Safeway was a crappy market and has a bad rep in So Cal, so bad that when they bought Vons, they left the name, no safeway down here. Albertsons has changed their stock and now has Vons stuff and my vons card works there. The in store bakery makes the bread and at 1700 people are huddled around, grabbing them before they are on the shelf.

Safeway used to be good, but now. meh. So, fFry's bough Smiths, then Albetsons bought frys then Albertans and safety merged. So I have Safeway, Frys, For city, which is a Bashas creation for the mexicans, and Walmart.I do most of my shopping at walmart.

Fair enough ... years ago (so long I don't how many--before 2001 when we moved here anyway) Safeway bought Carrs, but they are still called Carrs-Safeway. Their stores here are my favorite of those available to us, which include Fred Meyers, Wal-Mart, and them of the big boys. New Sagaya is a local and more specialty type market.

    Finally...

One last tidbit of trivia.frys electronics and frys grocery were actually brothers that started in Arizona. The difference in logos is one is capitalized and one isn't.

    Ok I'm done...
