My abs light is in and throws codes for the front right and rear left speed sensors malfunctioning. I replaced them both the front stopped for a bit and is back. Could it be the wires need extended?

    No, it shouldn’t.

The brownish goo, leads me to believe you may have water intrusion in to the wheel bearing/hub.
Or a bearing is failing. The odd part is that, you have 2 codes, and on different sides.

That is worth a try, and likely needed.
I’d also inspect the wires to see if they are pulled apart or loose along the whole wiring harness.
You could extend the wires and still have the codes if the wires are loose somewhere else along the harness.

Def, following. I have a weird one as well that I can’t figure out. I have gone through each of the nine steps in the FSM and still get performance failure of LR wheel speed sensor. Good impedence on sensor, good continuity on harness, replaced ABS solenoid, reset ABS codes with Techstream. Finally gave up and techs at Toyota couldn’t figure it out either. Keen on the bearing since the polarity ring is built into it but not sure how it can get damaged or messed up. Sorry if this is a thread jack, hoping we all can learn, and yes, with just a small body lift I broke wires and extended them no issues. You may be at the edge of good continuity and over reaching with flex.

I would think you could use a scope on the sensor and see the waveform.
That would help diagnose a tone ring. I can’t say I’ve seen a tone ring that’s bad, but I haven’t done enough bearings. I’m just a DIY guy, I don’t do this stuff daily.

no tone rings on second gens, those were brass on first gens and very soft. The second gens have an integrated polarity Hall effect built into the bearing that is within nanometers. I think I may just bite the bullet and replace it to see if it works. I am all out of Schlitz at this point. Toyota wanted $1500 to do it and I said no thanks. I can remove a c clip and and fab up something to remove the bearing on my own.

Yea, I used the wrong term. It is a Hall Effect Sensor.
Which still should be able to be seen on a Pico or scope machine.
The problem is, scopes are expensive. And the guys that have them, well they are going to charge you.

So this is what my front right sensor (brand new) looks like.

    20200825_170558.jpg

So I found damage in the front harness cut it out and extended. Front error code is gone. Rear is still there. I swapped the sensors front left to back left and code stayed. Found slight damage in the harness replaced it and still have a code.

The only thing I can think of is the plugs are mayne swapped and its reading the right side as the left?

Another question. Would these error codes disable the parking brake?

No, the parking brake is all mechanical.
Are you referring to the Parking Brake Light, or the actual parking brake not holding the truck from rolling?

The ligjt is on and the brake does nothing. It appears to be all hooked up but I have never messed with one so...

First check the brake fluid to see if it is low.
Then look under the truck and see what the brake cable for the Parking Brake looks like.
I’m pretty sure a lot of guys had to take it loose from the body/frame when doing big lifts.
Maybe yours is loose or something?

    Who did your lift?
I did a little research and it seems that some guys running big lifts like yours had to leave the parking brake disconnected, as it was too tight if you left it hooked up.
