Picked up '23 Tacoma that hit a deer, crashed RT fender, windshield & RT curtain bag blown. Anyone know if airbag module needs reset of only curtain bag blown? No airbag light/notice but display on dash says "Pre-Collision system Malfunction" guess it wasn't watching for deer.

You bought a wrecked truck, like a salvaged vehicle, or was it repaired?
It probably has damage to the front sensor, or maybe after airbags are replaced, there’s another step to reassign them.

Nice running Off Road 4dr, salvage with 3k miles. Front clean, fender, windshield, right bag & mirror only major damage. Picked up fender in color, ordered bag & mirror. Assume "Pre-Collision" notice related to glass & lane monitor sys. will see once glass in & re-calibrated.
No SRS indicators so wondering if I should dig out module & send in or wait and see if any change after new bag installed.

Don't install a new bag until you either reflash the module or put a new one in. Usually salvage yards will keep modules with all the bags as a package deal. Talk to a collision center (independent, not a dealer) and see who they use for air bag modules. I use a guy called Air Bag Jim here in KC. He can usually come to me and reflash modules.

If the bags deployed you’re going to need a control unit. The last Camry I fixed (a 2021) was throwing squib circuit codes so I replaced the controller and it was all set.

And that totaled a '23 3k mile truck?

    Wow.

You'll need a new module. It has discharged and won't be useable again.

A good salvage inspector will catch it if the module has deployed but not been replaced.

Did the seatbelt pre-tensioners blow as well?
