Only mod n2 designs remote start (smart key)

    Issue:
Alarm went off in the middle of the night. I got up hit unlock on the fob(smart key) and checked to make sure no one was trying to get in. Relocked on the fob. 2-5 mins later alarm went off again. Luckily I had enough sense to keep the keys on my night stand and was able to hit unlock again after 3-4 horn blasts. Again went out with a flashlight and checked no was out there. Feeling bad for waking all my neighbors at 4am. I unlocked the truck, popped the hood and disconnected the battery. I then went and manually locked all the doors and was about to go back to bed, buuuut the I figured I could probably just pull the fuse for the horn. I opened the fuse box and found there is a fuse and relay for horn and a separate fuse and relay which are labeled “s-horn”. Not knowing which one or both needed to be pulled to kill the alarm horn I just decided to leave the battery disconnected to make sure my neighbors didn’t get any more familiar with the sound of my trucks alarm. I don’t think the n2 designs unit could be messing with anything as it’s been installed for a few months with no issues. And it’s the smart key option so there are no wires to cut its all plug and play. I’ll plan to put to put it all back together and if it keeps happening I’ll uninstall the remote start just to take that variable out of the equation. Has anyone else had issues with alarm going off randomly? If so, what are some other things I should look at? Thanks!

maybe call the n2 folks, around here, I hear they are helpful. I say "I hear" because my experience was much different from the norm; I did reach out to them to install my GF's n2 in her 4R, and they never bothered returning my request.

Thanks! I put everything back together and have been keeping a close ear on it, no more phantom alarms yet. However, when I was leaving my house this morning I saw one of my neighbors houses got TP’ed last night so now I’m wondering if there were some dumb kids on summer break messing with different random houses on my block.

Get some cameras, they’re so cheap, good, wireless,,, and most of all? Ne’er-do-wells often see them and just go elsewhere they’re not being recorded.

Good suggestion got the doorbell cam, but people don’t know that. I also have security lighting, but my neighbors asked me to trim the sensitivity down so it didn’t shine in their newly finished basement. Maybe I should buy them some black out curtains and turn those bad boys back up to 11. Also maybe an Arlo or similar mounted right above the garage door would be helpful. Thanks!
