I have discussed the issue with my service manager. In 2018 my Blind Spot Warning system failed. I elected not to have it repaired instead using the old tried and true method of “mirror, signal, shoulder check”. The service manager to my knowledge not knowing this asked if I use the BSW system because when that system fails its been known to effect other systems. Questions:

Am I being handed a load of BS in preparation for a hefty repair bill?

All of the fuses seem fine. Is there a relay that I should look at replacing just to get my heat and defrost working because its still winter here?

Is there is a relay to replace where is it?

    Thanks

    Al from Whistler Canada

It's independent of everything, BSM is blindspot and rear traffic alert. Thats it. It doesnt affect anything else.

If the mirror defrost isn't working, its likely another symptom of a mirror connection issue.

The early 3rd gens had issues with BSM radar modules and connections on the harness.

I wouldn't fix it either, very expensive and if you don't need it. Just turn it off.

Thank you. Do you have a work around to get my climate control system working? I can't heat or defrost my truck and it's -12 Celsius

That would need proper diagnoses, typically its a jammed motor on the HVAC unit, scan tools can tell you which one, but you need a licensed scanner that can read Toyota specific codes.

Best thing you can try is to disconnect battery, let it sit and see if it fixes itself.
