What's the deal with that annoying sound every-time I turn off my Tacoma ..
It sounds like a pump or vacuum . (2014 V6 4X4) can it be eliminated , what's its purpose ?

Part of the emissions control system. It's an evap system for the gas fumes.

From what I understand it a pump that pull any unburnt fuel vapors back through the intake and the charcoal filter. And yes it's very annoying.

The pump blows fresh air into the exhaust to help burn off unburnt fuel.

Isn't the pump on the passenger side of the intake?

That would be the filtered air intake side of the air pump.

The air pump can also run while driving, depending on engine loads.

its the secondary air injection pump running a lil bit after you shut it off to help keep water out of the system
