    I've looked into solar for my well. I know this is about one's rig out wheeling and what not. But I did find out there's a solar well pump and that's it's best to use forklift batteries. I didn't get far after that. I'd like to find out more on the panels. Guess I'll just search for Made in USA

    What dog do you have in this fight? Trying to convince people to go with a generator, when this thread is CLEARLY labeled "Solar"? If your thoughts on this topic are "Retarded", then move on. Period. The folks in this thread are more educated than average regarding generators, and such, and want to use Solar. No need for stirring shit over what power source is better.

    I considered a Honda generator for back up if I could afford to have one just sit with todays shit gas. Would have to fill it with real gas at 10 $ a gallon.
    So, what are the best made in USA panels?

    well, he got into, 30V is better and this and that.. but then explained to get 255W out of a 30V panel it would need to be 6' x 3'... kinda like a picture earlier in the thread i got a good laugh out of.

    he also mentioned that solar wasnt designed to be installed on trucks.

    While generators are good sources of power, they are typically loud, need fuel, need tending, get very hot, blah blah blah, Solar is completely quiet and efficient and free. That's what I want to hear when I'm in the desert....QUIET! Solar panels are a great way to SUPPLEMENT power (did I mention quietly) without the draw backs of a generator.

    Thanks for the link OP. Those panels seem like a good fit for a truck. Not too big but still efficient and fairly inexpensive for the power output. I've been looking at a panel that size to throw up on my RTT roof to supplement power to small electronics as well as a trickle charger to an Aux. battery I use for LED camp lights.

    We use a 5kW diesel Onan Gen set on our mobile Incident Command post. It's pretty quiet, background sound that you don't really pay any attention to.

    we just got one a year ago in our 5th wheel, and cant hear it at all inside. Barley hear it outside. However, we only really fire it up when its being stored.
