    That looks nice
Pair it with a metal top edge if they even make them anymore. I think Mobtown did but shut down. And the relentless skin is one piece full wrap around. Unless you cut it under the bolts.

you can always reach out and ask if they’d be interested in developing it for sale. Maybe if you round up enough people committed to buying to show them there may be a market for it enough to justify spending the cost on development

There would be alot of cutting involved of the inner tailgate pieces then I would wonder how structurally sound it would be after. Its 10 or 12 bolts to pull the liner off and see, I would be real nervous cutting all the braces out to store a strap or 2 inside the gate. Being a storage nut and all this seems like a risky way to gain a little hidden space.

Other than the cool factor I can't imagine you could put much in there if you could find something like that for 2nd gens, our tailgate is only a few inches deep at most.

I have one similar for my Honda Element, it’s actually pretty useful…after it’s installed and bolted down, it should be pretty sturdy.

I do have a metal tailgate top "protector". Forgot who I got it from.

I'll probably reach out them to see how many pre-order it would take to fab them.

And yes, structural integrity is a concern, as well. But if it's a fully supported box you insert, you may still have some structural strength? I dunno, i'm not an engineer.

That's a really good idea! Make use of the dead space or maybe even a secret storage compartment =)

I would be in for this in my DCSB that I camp with. I just want a place to store some kind of mud mat that I can throw on the ground, but not have to store it in the bed all muddy with other stuff

Glad someone pointed this out, will have to investigate. Kinda like the storage I discovered in the stock of my Savage Model 42 behind the recoil pad, but that's probably a different thread.

Better off trading for a Ridgeline or one of those RAMs with the bedside storage if you need that type of storage badly.
