too many lights

I've been searching and reading as much as possible on the forums and through Google but cannot find any conclusive answers to my question. I really would like to use navigation with this giant screen (bought my truck used, it came with this headunit) but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it working with a Samsung Galaxy s5. I have an MHL adapter and everything but am not able to load Waze or Google Maps. Am I just SOL because I don't have an iPhone?
