ARB vs stock Locker

so I have an SR5 and may get a locker in the future and I was wondering if the ARB is better than the stock TRD locker and why?

TRD locker uses electronics, ARB uses compressed air. If you have the need for on board air, the ARB might be a good option since you'd have to add a system for the locker anyways. If not, you might be able to get a used TRD Off Road rear axle and wiring and do the swap out and save some $$.

 

So I can't just simply add a locker to a stock sr5 4x4

 

Not a TRD locker, you can add an ARB to your stock rear end.

 

The ARB has a stronger carrier and engages smoother/faster. I would choose the ARB over the e locker every time.

 

My Elocker engages smoothy each time every time.

 

The SR5 truck's rear end is a larger rear end then the stock e-locker rear end, so add an ARB and you will have stronger, locked rear IMO. Then, upgrade the compressor for a clean, on board air set up. Much cheaper then swapping out axles, electricals, etc. and a better set up many would agree. Plus, this would be a good time if you wanted or needed to re gear.

 

I see. Will regearing effect VSC?

 

My E-Locker has never let me down, and has always engaged with no problems. But if I had my choice between the two, I would choose the ARB.
