I'm in Southern Maine at the coast which is a expanded zone for archery. I have three months and can pull as many doe as I want with my bow. We don't go hungry.

The other odd part about my land is that there's ton of turkey all around the immediate area but nothing around my house. I know I've got a red fox and a gray one nearby as I've seen them while sitting in my stand. We also might have some coyote so I'm guessing the local predators keep the turkeys away.

All this bow talk reminds me that I've got to start getting cozy with my baby again.

got decent field of view, that smaller tree might have to come out but its a decent hill to the right as you sit and a seasonal creek to the left. nice open field in front. Its kind of a nice place since the main road is not visible from the stand. Only down side is maybe have sun in your face for a little bit at evening sit. Wind is good direction--10-11 o'clock as you sit on the stand. I verified permission to hunt and put a stand in...so another win:D

Barring any crisis it’s game on.

Why do they call it a tree stand if you sit on it?

Drop it down about 10 ft or it's gonna be a lonely stand.

Expanded is awesome especially since I mostly hunt my own land! I think I need one of buckhuntin-tacoma’s Stands though. Mine’s on the upside of a slope and I still feel like I’m right in the field of view of every doe that’s wondered in front of my stand. I can’t even twitch without them looking my way. I actually have had better luck on my porch. Nothing like sitting in my stand on a cool fall day though.

Own land is great, I should be so lucky.
Maybe moving the stand a few feet might make it stand out less ?

My stand is tucked into a tall pine at the edge of a small narrow opening with camo draped around it. I just feel like I’m 4’ or 6’ lower to the ground compared to other stands I’ve been in. It’s also narrow so I have to be standing to draw my bow without feeling like a bull in a china cabinet. Trying to move that much once a deer has made it into my lane seems impossible. I’d get a ladder extension for it if I ever thought about this in the spring. Maybe next year ;)

I’m not 100% sure if I have the 6” or 7” brace but I love my Halon. I purchased it last summer. It’s he most consistent shooter I’ve had. Not as quiet as my Carbon Night, way more Quiet than my Bear Agenda. And I love how small it is. Best bow I’ve had for sure. The Torqueless grip made a surprisingly noticeable improvement over an already great bow as well.

That's a good looking bow!. I've held one, never shot one. It's time for an upgrade & halon 6 was #1 so far

Thanks! Still a couple odd camo parts I’d like to coordinate but I dig it.

As far as upgrading to a Halon, I liked my Bear but never loved it. After a few years I went down the rabbit hole of bow research and the Halon kept popping up. One morning on my way to work I took a detour to the local Archery shop and walked out with the Halon. Ive never been happier with another bow.

My buddy has my old Carbon Night and my wife has a Carbon Rose. I still get a little awww struck when they’re shooting because of how quiet those bows are.... Then I loose a laser beam from my Halon and the world seems right again.

I’ve never been a speed freak but the Halon is fast and it’s very consistent for me. I’ve never shot better in my life than I do now with this bow.

My only critical comment would be that I wish it was a touch quieter... but it’s still a nice quiet bow and after a year I still haven’t tried to do anything to make it any quieter.
