The release is probably the most critical component, take her to a bow shop and see if they’ll let her try a few to see what’s most comfortable for her. They can pretty much set her up with all of her needs.

Yep. Take her and the bow to a shop.

I did that last year (this was my first bow season) and it was extremely helpful. Just make sure that when you go to a bow shop you don’t end up with some 18 year old that doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground. I went to three separate shops and landed at a mom and pop archery shop because the guy running that place was the one that actually seemed to know his shit

It can get pretty remote (and cold) ha. Luckily hunting is a big deal here so archery shops are even in tiny towns, but not usually the ones with only 200 people haha.

I went with a true fire hardcore

I prefer the hook over the clamp releases.

Age certainly isn’t a given, but generally speaking I want someone with some age and experience. I visited a shop in the Asheville NC area and the dude running that shop is probably 35 but literally KNOWS HIS SHIT. But, you look online at the shop reviews and there’s hundreds of people singing his praises

Also both shops near me have 18 year old kids that I have to coach to just cut arrows to length for me.

That’s why I drive into Wilmington for immediate needs and hold out til I can drive to Asheville for the big stuff. I like the shop I bought my bow from because they know thier shit.. they are just expensive and likely because they are the only bow shop in town that isn’t dumb as a rock lol

I don't have much of a choice, 90% of the land I hunt won't allow treestands to be left overnight. My buddy got a $150 fine for leaving his stand on a tree (for one night) several years ago.
I sort of understand; some people hang 'em and forget 'em, but it greatly reduces my options.
    Side note:
A couple of years ago I was talking with a game warden and he asked me if I knew where any stands were...when I said that I had seen a few he told me to take them if I wanted themo_O
