    First question
Heaven? Not sure what you are asking really...

    Second Question
Degrees of Glory. Basically all are a Heaven just varying "degrees of glory" haven't been there and so I do not know the details but more than Mormons can end there. Celestial is the highest, Terrestial is middle, Telestial is lowest (what most others call Hell), there is Outer Darkness but thats another story...

    Second Question Part 2
    Kinda...

    Third Question
No clear answer as of yet. I am curious myself, it still kinda bugs me. Lots of "I think" reasons but no clear answers.

I do have to say, that Mormons really do understand a lot about their religion. I'm impressed. You ask 90% of other Christians complex questions about their religion, they wouldn't be able to answer them. It's sad, really, believing something so strong but not knowing any of the history. Don't let others give you crap about your religion, Kyle, they don't know anything about it except for the BS that people throw around.

    +1 to you, SnowroxKT

OOPS! missed the actual first question.

Garments or the "magic underwear" lol is just a reminder for us that we have made covenants (promises), generally no one under 19 makes those covenants. (haven't done those myself yet)

I agree though, I know one Catholic and met one Jehovah's Witness that knew what they believed. Sad really

The bible as most everyone knows wasn't assembled until 367 AD (over 350 years after Jesus Christ was crucified). It was done by a group of church leaders to make the churches preach from the same books.

No one knows exactly how many books were left out of the Bible. There are references in the bible for books that were lost throughout history.

    (Btw, I am not Mormon)

Polygamy...what are the origins of this practice? I'm quite certain the church discourages it now (correct?).

I suppose. I thought that there was maybe something more significant than that. Not that the church HQs aren't significant or anything

I just know that a ton of Mormons live in SLC. Entire communities of strictly Mormons there even. There are not many places in the US that have communities almost exclusively dedicated to one faith. As far as I know anyway.

To answer this question, the Latter Day Saints didn't "make" their own book. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. In other words it is a second witness that he lives and it is a record of his teachings with the people on the the ancient American continent, before it was America and Indians lived here.

In John 10:14-16 it reads " I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep (us people), and am known of mine. As the father knoweth me, even so know I the father: and I lay down my life for the sheep (you know, the part where he gives his life for all of us, all over the world). And other sheep I have; which are not of this fold (people who live elsewhere in the world): them also I mist bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold (one true gospel), and one shepherd.

So in essence other people would get to be taught the gospel of Jesus Christ in a different part of the world so they too could return to their father. It just so happens those people kept records just as the jews did. The Book of Mormon is those records. After the last follower of Christ completed his writings in the book he hide them in order to preserve them. Joseph Smith was guided by an angle of God to the place of their whereabouts after praying to God about what church to join as so many claimed to be the one and only true church. He translated the writings with the power of God and the world was given a second testament of Jesus Christ.

So the Book of Mormon is a companion to the Bible. Not a replacement.
It is not adding to Johns book of Revelations at all. In fact, to claim any scripture written after Revelations was written would void pretty much the entire New Testament since Revelations was written by John before a large majority of the New Testament was written yet.

Yep not encouraged now. Origins are in the Bible, never figured out why this is that big of an issue.

(Of course there are those crazy fundamentalists that claim they are "Mormon" just to go and get 20 wives even though the Church does not encourage polygamy and encourages lawful behavior)
