That's just a handful of people on this site. And I think the people that wanted it locked were likely Mexican in heritage or could just see that it was goign to be a racist shitshow.

OK, so there's a few million more, give or take. But we're talking about a country with a population of 309 million.

The thing is, many American citizens often don't think to rationally about these issues (well, lots of issues) and just think in black or white by using the soundbites they are fed by the media or former "leaders": you are either for us, or you are against us. That's just stupid talk and a false dichotomy. These kinds of people don't differentiate between Mexican immigrants who are here legally and those who are not. If it is brown, shoot it down. And many of the vocal folks you hear on this issue are witness to the illegal crossings on the border, so they are understandably incensed by the illegal transgression. So am I.

Build a fortress wall across half the southern US? Gee, how much will that cost? And won't they just find other ways around? Our bridges and roads are collapsing, and that poses serious economic and safety risk to all Americans. Oh, and we are runngin a few wars. Yay. Maybe we should work on those first, and change policies that create incentives for them to try to come here, and agressively pursue the American citizens who hire illegals to work for cheaper than American will work for.

OK, now I am just going down a political rabbit hole, so I am going to knock it off. My main point is that you hear the vocal minority and what the media sensationalizes because they are the loudest, and that doesn't often reflect what the majority thinks. It reflects the fearmongering views of those with an agenda to promote, often contrary to reason. Like getting elected.

    :crapstorm: incoming PM...
