I have my auto light sensitivity setting at +2 but the headlights still do not activate on overcast days with rain or snow. The law over here states if wipers are on, lights must be on as well. However, yesterday they did activate even though it was mostly sunny and dry. Very odd. Anyone experience this type of inconsistency or know what’s going on?

Your eyes don't view things in the same way as a light sensor. Light is refracted pretty well with overcast skies. Your light sensitivity isn't going to always activate the lights with bad weather. It may actually be brighter than when the sun is lower in the sky and you enter the shadows.

Thanks for your explanation - It makes sense. I wonder why my other vehicles (Honda, MB) with the same safety feature functions more practically, in my opinion. Toyota’s auto light set to the max sensitivity and still not activating the headlights in conditions which they should is a bit concerning/baffling.

do you have anything on the dash yesterday? The light sensor is on the passenger dash and if you cover it by accident the lights will come on. Things such as a windshield tint, hat, dash mat, parking reciept, etc can all trigger it.

Nope, nothing was on the dash. I have tint but not on my windshield. Not sure if that makes much of a difference. Good to know now where the sensor is. Thanks!

Different sensors, actual rain sensors, calibration, etc. Could be any number of reasons. I'm not too concerned about it, myself.

Mine came with DLRs, so no concern there, although I wish the taillights also came on automatically.
