Hi, I tried searching the forum but I get differing answers.

I have a 2009 Tacoma without an after-market alarm and I was wondering is there an option to auto-lock the doors once I shift out of park and start driving and for it to unlock after I've parked and shut off the engine?

Secondly, is there an option to passively lock the car (not sure if that's the correct terminology)? What I mean is if I turn off the car, forget to lock the door, walk away and then the truck will automatically lock itself?

    Thank you in advance!

First option should be possible. My 4Runner does this. My Tacoma was a standard, and I never looked into it.

Second option only happens if you unlock with the key fob, and never open anything. The truck will lock itself up after 30 seconds.

1.) I was wondering is there an option to auto-lock the doors once I shift out of park and start driving and for it to unlock after I've parked and shut off the engine?

No, That is not an option.

2.) What I mean is if I turn off the car, forget to lock the door, walk away and then the truck will automatically lock itself?

No, That is not an option. However if you unlock with the keyfob and Do Not Open a Door, it will automatically re-lock the doors in about 10 seconds or so.

Many aftermarket alarms can be programmed to do this. Repair shops hate this "feature". If you do this, you will end up with the keys locked inside the truck. Make sure you keep a spare key in your wallet, a hide a key underneath, and give a key to a few of your friends. These can all be just cheap metal keys without the immobilizer chip.
