Hello, I finally got around to installing an auxbeam 8 gang switch panel. One of the sets of lights I added was a pair of diode dynamics ss2 with that also tie into my reverse lights. I’m having trouble figuring out why they don’t turn on when in reverse but now my actual reverse lights are switch controlled. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Did you tie into the factory reverse light wire harness and then install that bundle into the switch panel?

Yes I tied into the factory harness provided by diode dynamics.

If the harness from diode ties into the Tacoma reverse light harness I wouldn’t run it through a switch panel. The relays in the switch panel are only energized providing power to the lights when you flip that switch. If you run the red wire of the diode lights to the switch panel (black wire to a good ground) and not tie into the Tacoma wire bundle, your stock reverse lights will operate normally and you will just have to flip the switch to turn the diodes on whenever you want them on.

Makes sense. I was hoping to achieve both but I don’t think it will work.
