back spacing question

Can I run a wheel on my 06 4X4 Tacoma Sport with a 5.75 backspace. The wheel is 8.5" x 17 and I want to run 265/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac tires. I have Bilstein 5100's set at 1.75 lift up front and a 1" lift block in the rear.

The 5.75 backspace will set the wheel in .3" or 8mm and will be .7" or 18mm out further.

Are my numbers correct? Will they rub?

 

i think that you're correct, it's going to sit in about ~.25 in compared to stock. tires and setup should be fine with min. rubbing if any at all on full lock. have you thought about using 1"-1.5" wheel adapters for an aggressive look.

 

I can get the same wheel in a -6 offset / 4.5 backspace, but I don't want the wheel/tire to stick out that far. It will set the wheel/tire out almost 2" more than it is stock.

 

personally, i wouldn't mind the stock wheels sticking out another 1" for that aggressive look, but looks is subjective. i would go for the 4.5" bs setup. take a good look at your stock wheels and try picturing the wheel/tire now more flushed with the fenders.

 

While the inner edge of the rim will sit IN .25" compared to stock, the out eadge of the wheel will sit OUT 0.75" more than stock, due to the wider rim. That should pull the tire away from the UCA enough to prevent rubbing, since the tire is centered on the rim.

But as Jamie said, if you are ever going to upsize to wider tires, these won't work for you.
