I must have just a basic back up camera on my '22 TRD Sport, unlike you all with the premiums with 10k+ multiple views from it, lol. But my backup camera is crystal clear just like my wife's '21 Highlander XLE Hybrid so not sure why a "fancier" camera setup would have crappy back up views.

My camera is nor even close to that clear.
It's distorted(plurry) and out of shape.

Same color and all as the one I picked up.
I needed/wanted the SunRoof. I'm addicted to them.
Traded in my 2020 Camery Hybrid which was an amazing car 100%. I will moss the 50+mpg.
The backup camera on it was crystal clear.

They’re all the same cheap Chinese cameras. Gas stations in the hood have better tech than car companies and banks do

I just don't understand all the hate these cameras are getting. The one in my 2020 is perfectly fine. Is it an 8k resolution I-MAX experience where you can count the pours in peoples faces? Of course not.
But, can I see the little kid behind me? Sure can. Can I see if I'm backing up into the neighbors trash can, or that fire hydrant? Yup! Can I see if I'm backing up square and 4' away from the dumpster when going to the dump? Perfect.
These cameras were never meant to be a replacement for turning your head and looking, and using your mirrors. (But never completely trust your mirrors.... Anyone who's ever ridden street bikes for any length of time knows what happens to you when you trust your mirrors and not look over your shoulder..)
These are only meant to be an extra very handy tool in your tool box. Not the only tool in the tool box. It can't be, because no matter how good of a camera you have... There's always those times when the sun is glaring on it just right... Or it's frosted over because it's cold out ... Or it's just dirty.. It's next to useless.

For nighttime use I disabled the license plate lights to get rid of the washed out look. In good lighting conditions I have no problems with the rear camera. In the future I will add some higher intensity back up lights to see if that helps the nighttime use. Like others have mentioned the sun at the wrong angle can be bad as well.

I have your twin, same yr and color. Yes the GPS is terrible but I just hook my phone up and use my Google.

Question for you though How long did your Tacoma take to get acclimated to your driving. I only have about 350 miles and it gets better all the time. 1st few times out it was literally a dog, I was about to drive it back to the dealer but someone where I work told me to give it a few hundred miles. Now it seems to drive a little better each time out.

Also where did ya get the blackout for the emblems and rear tailgate letters?
